Neutral with a dead battery

I have a 2003 Lincoln Aviator with a dead battery and I wondering if there was any way to get it into neutral to move with the dead battery. I tried to turn the key in the ignition and apply the brakes but that didn't work

There is an override lever on the shift lever, inside the center console. Find the access panel next to the driver's seat; it's about 1.5" high by 4.25" wide, under the top edge accent trim. Carefully pry out the panel, then use a screwdriver to push the white plastic override up toward the roof of the vehicle. You can then move the shift lever out of Park.

Original question: Thanks to Bill Boyd for answer Could it be the shifter cable? 2004 automatic AWD lincoln aviator starts right up,shift gears, won't move, reverse not working either.

if it starts up, then the shifter cable is moving and operating the park and neutral switches unless the cable has disconnected at the box
no forward and reverse indicates that the torque converter serv/solenoid is not function correctly

Clean your battery terminals properly-You can also use a jumper;remote starting switch tool to jumper all circuits to diagnose starter(could be dead starter)-Could possibly be neutral safety switch and many other wonderful gremlins, however, these are the main culprits that I can readily think of.....

Why does the battery drain on Lincoln Aviator

As said before some thing is still on could be door switch, hatch switch, hood switch light under hood something plugged in to lighter all the time or just a dead cell in battery that could be checked at auto parts store.

I locked my keys inside my lincoln aviator the battery is dead how to get open door

On the Holiday weekend this can be tuff. If you can find a Lincoln dealer open, see if they can run the VIN# and cut a new key.

Call the Police. They have Slim-Jims and can sometimes open a door. Your advantage-This is a Holiday weekend and stuff is closed.

Your Auto Policy or Road Insurance. A locksmith is covered in the Premium Policies or Autoclub. The Locksmiths have all the keys and can trial and error fit the lock.

03 lincoln aviator does not shift in reverse. all others gears are functional.....please help

If its automatic, you need a new transmission. Manual transmission, keep trying to switch gears and maybe it will slip into reverse. Or you could do what I do, don't pull into anywhere unless it's a slight hill that you can coast in Neutral backwards or have someone push you in Neutral.

2003 Aviator - Can't dislodge gear shift to change gears

my initial guess is that your neutral safety switch is not operating correctly. This is a switch that tells the computer that you are in fact pressing the brake and to allow the shifter to be unlocked, among some other values that switch calculates.

is this a manual? or auto transmission?
