Fairly new battery? Will it restart right after you shut it off or is it dead after you let it sit for a couple hours? You have had the battery load tested?

When you jump it, when you hook up the cables to your car. Do you hook both cables to the battery or do you hook the negative to the engine. If you hook the negative to the engine try hooking one end of the jumper cables to the block and the other end to your negative battery terminal. This will test your ground cable to the engine. If its bad the engine will start when you do this.

I take it that this means you are hooking both leads of the jumper cables directly to your battery. I know you said you have a new battery, was it doing this before the battery install or did it start after the new battery was installed?

Try this. Take a set of jumper cables. Hook one end of the black lead to the negative battery terminal. Hook the other end of the black lead to a metal part of the engine. Does the car start after you do this?

whenever there is a running issue always check basics first, plugs, air filter, hose conections, make sure wires on battery not corroded inside, if fuel filter change, make sure there is fuel pressure,

Car won't start without a jump but battery okay

wont crank or wont start.??
no car starts , if it cant crank. (unless push starter (M/T magic)
that is not a trans sensor its the PRN switch.
ill answer for, wont CRANK !
it wont crank even with a good battery (charged) or jump started.
1: bad start
2: bad wires to same.
so hot wire the starter small wire, the key start line is tiny.
cranks. , starter good, no crank starter bad or cables bad.
if it cranks hot wired, then the key line is dead.
easy, huh?

Stops running or wont start

Try Checking your battery cables. Make sure they are tight, if they are then check the connections to your alternator and your ground wires from your battery. you may either have a bad battery or a bad alternator. One way to test the alternator is to jump start the car then disconnect the battery with the car running.. if the car dies then u have a bad alternator... the Alternator should provide enough voltage to keep the car running on its own..

New battery. abs, battery and service engine lights come on. all headlights and tails flicker and car dies and wont start. jump it let it warm up and doesnt do it for awhile. then at some point it does it...

These are all signs of a bad alternator. The car is running off of only the battery. The alternator charges the battery and keeps the car running. When the alternator quits charging the car will run fine until the battery dies. Then you can jump the battery and charge it, and the car will run fine until all of the electronics and lights run the battery down again.

When trying to start my car it is turning over but wont start. I have been told that it was either the alternator or battery. What can I do?

If the engine is turning over (cranking) then the battery is good. If the battery does not have enough power to start the car, then that will need to be checked first. If the engine cranks and wont start, then a mechanic will need to check it over.

Car wont start, lights will come on and radio and windows. doesn't appear to be battery, but it also wont jump off either. is this the starter. makes no noise what so ever when you turnt he key

This exact same thing happened to me, it can be a number of problems. You might not have enough battery charge to get the car going since the fuel pump in this car is electronic, my car did not start but when i took it to a mechanic thinking the battery was perfect because lights and all were on they jump started it and it started then immediately died, i also had a choke pull off failure, leaks in my carburetor, and the float was to heavy causing flooding. 185 dollars later and a rebuilt carburetor my car had a smooth idle and turned on immediately after turning ignition. but then to find out my alternator was bad hence the battery only having enough power for the radio and in short try jumping the car even though the battery seems good, check your carb or get it checked by a mechanic, then check if your alternator is ok. if i waited for two days without attempting to start car then trying it would start if i held the ignition and pushed the gas pedal down until it started. (see if thats the case for you) my guess is you carb, battery, and alternator.

it is very rare when a bad alternator will stop a car from starting as the car will start and run until the battery runs out of juice however if it is shorted it could fry other components in the electral system. I am assuming you have already tried to jump start the car and it didnt start so if it is shorted then the welding is already done. check to see that the battery has juice and try to start the car more often than not if there is no turning or starting even while jumping its the ground wire on the batt or the frame thats loose. good luck
