Run fault codes to find the reason for the limp mode activation. Check oil and water levels in the radiator -not the reservoir.

SOURCE: 98 Jeep Cherokee Fog lights

It's definitely the switch...I bought two of 'em so far...known bug. I don't use the fog lights as much anymore , but the "Airtex" oem equivalent switch from Rockauto seems to be holding up well. If you dissamble your broke switch you'll probably see evidence that it is beginning to melt and theres alot, maybe too much, grease, which may or may not have been the cause of the bad, heating contacts inside switch.
If I remember right, even though the foglights have a relay there is still full amperage going through the switch or something....don't qoute me on that last statement.

98 jeep cherokee sport flashing engine light

The check engine light is because all check engine light codes are caused by components that affect emissions. It's not actually an engine problem, it's a problem with either your O2 sensor, MAF sensor, fuel/air ratio, pyrometer, or exhaust.

Engine running a little rough just started today. When driving there is a loss of power. The ck engine light will be steady on till you accelerate then flash. When revved up rpms want to drop.

do a computer self test. The answers will help with the diagnosis.

insert key in ignition. turn key as follows;off-on, off-on, off-on. ("on" is when the dash lights come on and "off" is one click back) Codes will either display on the odometer or blink out on the check engine light in pairs of numbers, 5-5 being the end of the test. write down the numbers and report back with findings.

The flashing of the check engine lights means the problem is serious.

2004 jeep grand cherokee special edition engine light on take foot off brake doesn't creep forwar, put foot on gas rpms go up but jeep only goes about 15 mph. THEN it worked just fine!!! Now the lights...

Get the check engine light checked you need to figure out the codes. Could be low on tranny fluid. If rpms go up and only moves for a short distance at 15 mph. Could be tranny fluid.

Sounds like an air leak somewhere after the air filter chamber. With engine idling spray some carb cleaner at different areas along the intake hose and the intake manifold, any place air can get in.If rpms change you have found leak.
