First disconnect the power cable from the battery. If your starter has a mounting bracket on the nose undo that nut first ( some have, some don't). Undo the nut that holds the battery cable to the starter and remove the wires ( count them so you know how many go back on). Under the truck you have to remove the inspection cover from the front of the transmission next to the motor. Undo the 2 bolts on the bottom of the starter. When these come out the starter will drop so be prepared because you still have 1 wire attached. Ease the starter down and remove the small wire from the inside of the solenoid and take the starter out with you. When you get the rebuilt starter from the autoparts store make sure you get a new solenoid. An old solenoid and a new starter is kind of like recycling used toilet paper, possible but not worth the trouble. It goes back in the reverse of taking it out.
BE CAREFUL putting the small wire back on the new solenoid. It has to be tight but you can easily strip it if you get carried away with it. If by chance that happens just double nut it with the nut from the old one and you'll be okay. Hope this helps.
