Ok, this should be pretty basic but if you have any doubts buy a repair manual for your car from auto zone or checker or wherever you shop.
first off buy the new filter and the oil, that filter should look very similar to the one that is on your car, although keep in mind that the color and sometimes even shape can be a little different, but you have a basic idea of what to look for.
the oil filter will be on the motor itself, as well as the drain plug, usually both are easier to access from underneath the car.  remove the oil filter counter-clockwise, some oil will leak out at this point and may be hot, so be careful, this may require a tool depending on how tight it is, the tool is usually relatively cheap.  NEVER use an oil filter tool to tighten your filter, it is only for removal and may damage the filter adapter, when you put the new filter on tighten it as much as you can with just your hands, this should be plenty tight. you will also need a drain pan, preferrably sealable so you can take it with you when it is full to be dumped (usually checker/auto zone will have an oil dump).
next loosen and take out the drain plug, this will be on the bottom of the oil pan, which is the bottom part of the motor itself.  when the oil stops (or reduces to a very fine flow being almost all gone), put the drain plug back in and tighten it down.  add 3 or 4  quarts of oil, start the car and let it run for 15 to 20 seconds, this will fill up the oil filter, then check the oil and add as needed.
hope this helps.

I want to change oil filter. Where is it? and do i need special tools.

I would suggest with that question, you would be
better off continuing to have the oil changed,
where ever you have been doing it

You must know you would have to raise the
car up somehow & need at least an oil filter
tool or cup & several other tools

I just don't see it worth your while to get
involved.

I want change the air filter and oil filter. How do I do that and is their any special tool need for each area?? I have a 2007 volkswagen passat/4 door

hey
No there's no specific special tools required, you can buy oil filter removal tools which are usually a chain that is rapped around it to get grip or a claw type thing. Try to loosen it with your hand first and if that doesn't work you could use a fan belt and vice-grip's or buy a removal tool. the air filter is just a matter of flicking if a few clips.
good luck

What if any special tools are required for a

No special tools required. MAYBE!

I say maybe because if you've ever taken you car into a quick lube place and they've changed your filter they are Notorious for installing the new filter on TOO TIGHT!. They are actually told to do this so the owner is forced to come back and have them do the next oil change. Its almost criminal.

The plug to drain the oil from the car is a simple 5/8in bolt, a socket or open ended wrench with work just fine.

The Oil filter SHOULD be able to unscrew by hand. Now if its on there too tight. There is a tool at any auto parts store called a Oil filter Wrench. They run around 10-20 bucks. all it is a handle with a metal ribbon that loops around the filter and allows a better grip.

You can also get away with jamming a screw driver into the filter and using that for leverage to unscrew it from the engine. *Note* This is extremely messy!!!

Just remember when installing a new filter to tighten it one half turn after it becomes tight. It does not need to be cranked on there hard.

Hope this Helps and thanks for using FixYa.com

How do I change the oil filter on a MAZDA 6 4 CYL..

You don't need a special tool. Use a 6mm allen to remove the filter drain plug. It will probably start to spin the filter housing. You can remove the housing by hand or with a regular oil filter wrench.

Oil Change Instructions for VW Touareg 2004

Hi,

I just did an oil change service on my Touran last night (same principal as the Toureg). The Touran has a bleeder (there is a seperate screw type cover under the filter) to release the excess oil in filter (not sure it the Toureg has the same)The aluminum casing around the filter is a bit tough to remove, but turning it anti-clockwise with a little bit of force should do it. Try not to use the special tools that are available to grip the casing as you may dent it. The sump plug can be removed with standard tools. I am still working on the reset option for the 'service now' warning
