Question about 2002 GMC Yukon XL

1 Answer

My 02 yukon has a tendency to stall when I'm turning into a parking space or backing out of one. It only does it a really slow speeds. When i come to red light the engines battery gauge drops than picks up and then drops again only to pick up when I press on the gas. Could it be my alternator starting to go bad? A friend said maybe air filter dirty but I already replaced it . Maybe catalyc converter?? help!!!

Did you clean the mass air flow sensor when you changed the filter? Get some MAF sensor cleaner and follow the directions. Have the alternator tested. Do you run the gas tank all the way to empty all the time? If so the pump may be shot the pump needs to be submerged in gas to keep it cool if you run it below 1/4 tank a lot its life is considerably shortened. you could also have a vacuum leak ,so that when you apply the brakes there is not enough vacuum left to run right. lastly the Idle air control motor could be weak.

My 2001 GMC Yukon XL Denali stalls while turning slow like into a parking spot. No warning lights or anything. It has done it while making a u-turn also. Alternator is good, battery is good, and pump is...

Hey guy I had the same problem with my 2001 Yukon XL. I took it to the dealer and they charged me an arm and a leg for a diag which found nothing. I had the fuel filter changed which fixed the problem for a few months but the problem came back. I have a new car now and drive that most of the time. I came across a site and this guy said to clean the Throttle Body like this link says, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnWiOrnVk28a and also clean the mass air flow sensor as this link says, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPT8rL0noYg I also changed out the air filter. Fixed my problem, the engine no longer stalls and that idle flux has stopped also. I hope this helps you and anyone else who is having this problem.

My 99 subaru legacy 2.5 feels like its going to stall when im turning at slow speeds like about to park.

if you are turning the wheel all the way until it stops then you are putting the steering pump in a bind cuasing the engine to slow down more causing the engine to stall ,,, recommend you turn the steering wheel all the way you are going until the wheel stops and then back the other way a little bit to stop this binding,, shoulsd stop your problem

When turning at low speeds, such as pulling into a parking space, the car feels like it's going to stall out.. the car feels very hesitant

it sounds like the tick over speed is to slow, it should be about 750 - 850rpm if its slower than this tweek it up a bit,, but if its an auto,,, tweek it up in gear,,with some one holding the brakes hard on,!!!

At slow speeds my 02 Mountaineer turns like its in 4-low.

have the transfer case fluid changed, this is a symptom of worn out fluid, also add a bottle of friction modifier to the case.
