CA you can take the car to a referree and get a one time waiver if you have spent a minimum of $450 on repairs not including smog fees. Gives you two years to get it fixed. Smog Referee Call Center

SOURCE: emissions test comes up not ready - can't pass inspection

Under the hood, there is a fuse block. I believe it is on the driver's side of your vehicle. Open that box, and pull the "ECU" fuse. Leave the fuse out for at least 5 minutes. Put the fuse back in, start the car, and let it idle for at least another 5 minutes. Do not drive the car, touch the gas, or even look at the gas pedal for these 5 minutes, as the ECU is remapping itself. This will properly reset the ecu and clear the codes. After this you may drive the car.

SOURCE: how do i reset the

Hello Lytten.

It may take a while yet to run the tests.
If all systems are functioning normally it will eventually reset.
Some of the tests need very specific parameters in order to test themselves.
Air temperatures, fuel levels, highway runs, stop and go traffic for some examples all come into play.
Drive it for a while more, you will find it will be OK.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Had both air fuel sensors replaced to pass CA smog. OBD2 evap and catalyst monitors say "inc" or "not ready," and vehicle won't pass smog.

Not sure how old the vehicle is, or model, or engine, so I can only give general suggestions. You may need new catyitic converters, or O2 sensors. They sometimes can't be corrected, just replaced.

1997 Dodge Caravan ECM will not go Ready, no trouble codes

In order to set the monitor it the drive cycle 2 trip criteria that means you need to have a cold start up and reach operating temperature then another cold start up with a operating temperature reached and the drive for each one is part throttle hold for 2 miles and a decelration for the catalytic to get ready.when the cat is ready the evap runs.If you are loosing monitor at key off and everything reset you can see the referee let them smog it. The EGR and EVAP are almost impossilbe to get ready

Trying to get my 1997 honda civic smogged. Replaced the knock sensor about 800 miles ago. No check engine light is on. When I try to smog it i have three things not ready - the catalyst, the evap, and...

As a rule it takes about 50 miles for the computer to finish it's readiness tests. Some take longer so I would drive it about 75 miles and then check.

Need to turn off check engine light

You can get a obd2 scanner at an auto parts store (they might let you barrow one for free) and click erase codes or unscrew the power (red) wire off the battery for 30 sec. If youre trying to pass a emissions test you'll have to still drive the car a couple dozen miles to set the readiness test (evap, cat, o2, etc) before they will pass your car.

O2 sensors keep failing and a evap leak code i put new gas cap did not cgehan ssomers11@gmail.com

Are you sure it's 02 sensors? Just because code says 02 sensors doesn't necessarily mean they're bad. Bad 02 sensor code can also indicate bad cat. converter. If 02 sensors read exact same reading before and after converter they will trigger OBC to "sensor fault" - they should be reading 2 different readings. (Pre CAT/POST cat) I'd suggest replacing cat converter before replacing sensors.

there is evap sensor that maybe bad but check all your vacuum tubes going to the gas tank to see if they have cracks or holes in them. also a bad gas cap will mess you up.

Evap Sys Monitor

if evap is the only monitor that hasn't set yet, the car should still pass, a car is allowed to have 1 monitor that isn't set and still pass as long as the check engine light isn't on. take it in for the emissions, it should pass.
