Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

I currently have a 1997 Chrysler LHS that doesnt start. I had replace the starter, battery, timing belt, water pump, sepertine belt, and made sure that everything was in time. I drove the car to work and by the time i went to lunch the car wouldnt start. I had this car for over seven years now and i am at my wits ends with this car. Could anyone tell me what the problem is? Im on a fix budget and im a single mom.

It might be the alternator, if the alternators gone then your battery will just keep dying.

SOURCE: engine wont start,,battery works...starter works...not sure if its fuel pump or what the problem is

It might not have enough fuel pressure. Try spraying carb cleaner into the throttle body when you crank it to see if it fires.

THe timing of the oil pump is irrelevent as no matter where it is timed as long as it is pumping oil. you must have a leak from a cam or crank seal or maybe the oil pressure sender. hope this helps. regards Ben.

How much will it cost to replace a water pump on 1997 chrysler lhs v6.

the waterpump on this car is turned by the timing belt, when you replace the waterpump on this car the timing belt should be replaced no doubt about it, the timing belt must be replaced and also the pulleys checked and if the car have 100,000 miles or more the timing belt pulleys must be replaced. the reason for this is that if for any reason the belt jumps or breakes then engine damage will occur, the pistons will bend the valves and this is very costly, there is no extra labor to do the belt it has to be removed to do the waterpump you would just pay for the parts, for example to do a waterpump it would run about $400.00, then to do it right with a waterpump timing belt and pulleys it would run 500.00,i think its a wise thing to do.this car only uses one pulley that needs replacing so i said pulleys but rather just a pulley that runs in this belt design. good day, heres a few diagrams to help explain how it works.johnjohn2_126.gifjohnjohn2_127.gifjohnjohn2_128.gif

You first off have to take the belts off the front of the engine Then take off the front covers and the external belt tensioner then inside there is the water pump You will have to drain your antifreeze then remove the timing belt You might as well replace this part too

My chrysler lhs 1995 will not start I have power fron the battery but am getting nothing other than dash lights and door dinging

The first thing to do is make sure the battery is fully charged, then test for power at the starter, use a testlight to check for power at starter, the big cable at starter should have power at all times then the small wire should have power when the key is held in the crank postion if theres power at starter then replace the starter.
