Transmission slips- Honda accord 2001

Hi Guyz,

I too have same Problem, first let me brief about my car

It Honda accord - v4, 2002. 112000 Km

I bought the car at 75k ,at that time the car not even had the transmission changed, when i went to get my oil change done in Mr Lube, The guy advised, since it is over 6 year and 7O k, need to change the transmission oil. So i got it done/

After 104000, I started to Observe **** a bit(slipping from 1st to 2nd ) so i spoke to Mr lube guy , adviced to get the transmission oil changed, So got it done, To my Surprise, the jerking immediately stopped. I thought , I saved big bucks.

During the first time in the morning when the engine is cold, It will be soo good to drive and once i am on drive on highway and local around 30 minutes roughly, the gears starts to slip from 1st - 2nd (when the Speed is around 20- 30 km), when i apply the brakes, the car jerks( like rebound)

I went to one independent mech to get his view, He said, It might be a problem with a solenoid, which might be creating, so it can be fixed by aroung 250 -300 , so i asked him to check for colour of my transmission oil and level, he said, its good not to worry,

So, I dont know what to do ? should i try to change the transmission oil again, as i have already done around 10 k back.. or it might be problem with my transmission.

Sorry for long Letter.
My Mechanic advised to first start with 'Lucas Transmission Fix' , It might fix for smaller issues other wise better to get the Transmission fixed....
Any advice will be great help .

Thanks in advance
Dare.

Did you have a transmission flush? because its bad for older cars to get flushed because the acids they use eat away the seals and mess up your transmission more...i would recomend using some transmission conditioner

2001acura cl trans slip third

Honda is known to have issues with the transmission on Acura and Honda Accord with cars build between 1999-2002.
The reason is that those transmissions does not have an internal transmission oil filter built in and as the clutches start to wear down the oil becomes contaminated.
The first step is to make a complete transmission oil change ( DO NOT FLUSH THE TRANSMISSION IT IS A BIG NO ).
Use only Acura ZF1 from Honda, I will strongly recommend to install an external transmission oil filter.

Transmission slipping problems

I hope you are aware that 1998-2002 Accord transmissions were troublesome, rarely lasted more than 70k miles, and the object of a recall. Should you need to rebuild the transmission, Honda has "Remedy" kit that solves recurring problems. I have a 1998, and this happened to me. If you are lucky, maybe just the torque converter failed, or is worn out, and replacement costs much less than transmission rebuild. Furthermore, these transmissions will positively not work with standard auto transmission fluid. You HAVE to use Honda ATF. Thanks for coming to Fixya.

I bought a 2001 honda odessey with 73000 miles the transmission gave up. i have it rebuild now it is 83000 miles transmission starting to slip

No transaxles make 100,000 miles

What your saying, including the rebuild
is common

Asian transaxles & all Van type vehicles,
are something you don't want to own

I used to own a trans shop,so I will leave
you with that

Can't fix slipping,drive a couple of days,
& your pulling the trans out again

Transmission slips has been doing so since I purchassed it used in 2008 transmission fliud was replaced but did not fix the problem

Most likely the transmission has worn clutches and needs to be rebuilt which will cost anywhere from $1000-$1800 dollars depending on the shop you go to.

I HAVE A HONDA ACCORD 2005 THE D4 LIGHR BLINKS N GEAR JERKS

It sounds like you have one of a couple problems. First, for the D4 light to be on and flashing, there is a problem the TCM (transmission control module) is seeing. If this is a V6, these transmissions are notorious for having problems internally, and need to be rebuilt at a transmission shop, or replaced. There is also a chance that either the third or fourth gear pressure switches have gone bad they will be the black and brown switches bolted to the top of the transmission. These can also cause this light flashing to occur. I dont understand the rest of your post. If you could clarify what you mean i could try to answer you question a little better
