If it's a standard, the rubber center of the clutch disc may be blown out. Expensive job!

Is it a manual or automatic? manual - most likely needs a clutch auto - check transmission shift linkage, if thats good it probably needs a transmission rebuild.

When you try to start the car it starts for a second then dies the injectors are all good i had them all tested. when you manualy give them power with a prob it will run

I had a 86 Porsche 911 that did this. On my car, the car cold start sensor was bad, $500 plus tax and that was over 10 years ago. Also, it could be a sensor, which is located on the vary back on the engine attached to the fan housing. but it is the only one back there on my 86. It is a idle control sensor. They will go bad gradually and some people actually have gotten stuck when the completely go.

Hi, my 2.5liter 86 porsche 944 nds the plugs to the distributer properly arranged. my brother messed them up.

the firing order is 1-3-4-2, it has to be in the 1-3-4-2 order starting at some point. I don't remember exactly if this one has it, but nearly all distributer caps have a 1 on the cap so you know where to start. I took magic marker and labeled each cylinder for the cap. The spark plug boots cover it up. Looking at the cap while standing in front of the bumper it is: 4 2 3 1 hope this helps

Porsche 944 '86: reverse gear in automatic transmission is hard,

The transmission is worn. The cheapest fix is changing to a high quality synthetic fluid. This will allow for easier shifting when it is cold.

1 st gear ok 2nd gear loses power rpm goes high

Check engine light on?

Is it a manual or auto? Assuming its a manual, is there an ABS light on? If so or if you hace changed the brake pads recently or even had the tires off or rotated, there could be a problem in the brake pad sensor or abs wheel speed sensor.

Check with Porsche service (your closest dealer) for recalls or TSB (Technical Service Bulletins) related to your concern and check the cayman/boxster owners clubs for similar posts and resolutions.

Hope that helps.

Car wont start .

You will not be able to hear the fuel pump on that model. First you have to determine if you get fuel and have spark. If it is a fuel problem, replace the DME relay first. Very common. They act up and fail without warning. Part is cheap and located in the fuse box. Next would be the fuel pump.
If it is spark related it may be the Flywheel Reference Sensors. There are two and the cost about $100 each.

Good Luck.

Tranny goes in reverse but wont go into foward gears

how many miles on trans? does fluid smell burnt?350 turbos are good tranneys but they do go bad. in my experance its reverse that goes out first on thies transmissions but thats not saying that it does not happen the other way either. my best guess is you need a rebuild. when you say it tries to move in forward gear that tells me that the clutches are shot. 350 turbos are worth rebuilding. its up to you.
