a 6ya Mechanic can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.
click here to Talk to a Mechanic (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

first be sure that its the engine light and not the "service" light. the service light will usually illuminate if its time for an oil change. if its the service light ur owners manual should tell u how to reset it. if its ur engine light then try disconnecting ur positive battery cable for 1 minute. that should reset ur ecm and get rid of the engine light. if the engine light comes back on then have a diagnostic scan done to determine whats causing it. The fuse box is located under the hood. Look for a black plastic box under the hood. Open the top of the box to access the fuses. There is alos a fuse puller tool amoung the fuses in the fuse box. Consult your owner's manual for more info.

Open the hatch and look at the back of the brake light assembly, you will see 2 plastic disks with a little slot in the bottom, insert a flat screwdriver into the slots and pop these disks off, they pop off easily Under the disks are phillips head screws, remove both screws Now, you can't see them, but there are 2 pins built into the brake light assembly which extend into sockets in the body of the car, to remove the assembly, wiggle the entire assembly and push outward TO THE SIDE, NOT toward you, this will wiggle the pins free and the entire assembly will come free once the assembly is free you will see 3 plugs, the top 2 are the brake light bulbs, twist the plugs 1/4 turn and pull them out, now you can see the bulbs, just pull them out and replace them

Testimonial: "Thanks, this is perfect to have since the sticker is missing. Good diagram."
SOURCE: Where is the thermostat located
I have to have mine replaced as well and found out it is located way behind the engine and will cost around $200 to fix because of labor....the part is only $10.
