Question about Honda Accord

Open Question

2004 honda accord ex v6. I have a problem with my car security system. The dome light in the car does not come on when I open the doors, but the dome lights can be turned on manually. Additionally my key remote will not lock, unlock the doors, will not open the trunk, but the panic button works. I tried reprogramming the remotes but no change. I do have 2 remotes and they are both doing the same think. Red indicator light on both keys come on when buttons are pushed so not remote battery. Can anyone help me troubleshoot this problem?

SOURCE: Car Alarm

sounds like the drivers side key switch has failed remove the interior door panel and there will be a switch attached to the back of the key lock cylinder or around there it should be two or three wires also check the door jamb wire harness where the door closes for any broken or damaged wires, use a vot meter and see if you get power or ground to the opposite side of the switch when you use the key to lock and unlock the door if nothing changes and there is power or ground! at this switch i would replace it, i don't think there is one but if the car has a passenger side key hole try to unlock the car from that side and see if you get the same problem -jeff

A local Checker or Auto zone can retrieve the codes for you, it will give you an idea of what may be at fault.

No dash lights or tail lights on my 1994 honda accord ex

I have right now the same problem. I just pulled the fancy/shmancy radio head out of my (Honda) 1992 Acura Integra and the whole dash is now a mess. It had been professionally installed. The dome light now doesn't work, the "door open" warning lights stay on, the clock is messed up, etc.
I installed the fancy head in another car, in a 1992 Honda Civic. That works perfectly. Sounds like you need to find a professional installer to re-do your new head.
I think the dash lights and the taillights are on the same circuit/fuse.

With the key off, press the odometer reset button on the instrument panel. Hold the button down and turn the key to the "on" position without starting the car. The light should go out within 10-15 seconds.

Doors not locking (but unlocking is okay).

The only time my doors don't lock with the remote is when a door is open. If your problem is mechanical it wouldn't unlock. Might be a sensor thinking a door is open. Does the other functions with the remote work like rolling the windows down or hitting the lock button flashes the light ? I can't lock my doors from the inside with the remote.

I have a 2000 Honda Accord EX V6 the dash lights will not come on. I checked the fuse and it was not blown. what could be causing this problem?

the knob or wheel that turns on your dome light is the first thing I would check...the wheel or knob needs to be turned to the right all teh way until u hear a click that turns on ur dome light. That also turns on ur dash lights..or at least it should be the same button/knb or wheel that ur thumb can turn. hope this helps...Owners manual should also tell u where its at..under the category "Interior lights".
