Question about 2001 Saturn SC

1 Answer

I have a 2000 Saturn SL1 that is over heating and has been for a while. Now it will start and run but when I turn it off and try to start it again, it will not fire. It turns over, but will not start. I usually have to give it at least an hour before it will start again. When it does run, it runs fine, with the exception of the standard over acceleration these cars are notorius for. Any suggestions?

Hi, My car was overheated. I have turned off the car for two hours and wanted to drive the car again. I started the engine, motor worked properly, but the transmission did not. After a while, It was...

Check your trans fluid level (car must be running to perform this properly). If it is low, there may be a leak, check the transmission oil lines on the radiator for leaks. If ok, try flushing then replacing the transmission oil and filter. Its not guaranteed to work!! Over heating does damage the transmission. Reason is, your trans oil runs through the radiator to keep it at a controlled temperature. When the engine overheats, the radiator becomes extremely hot which in turn heats up the transmission oil instead of cooling it. This may or may not cause severe damage!!

Try pulling the engine coolant temp sensor, They often crack not sure why but the ceramic tip cracks makes the car hard to start, or won't start, the car's idle may race while shifting gears, and often smokes. The sensor is on the right side of the engine when looking at it on the head. Easy to change and get too
