Check fuses & relays box under hood on drivers side , flip cover off & look on underside of cover, it may be there.

SOURCE: no brake lightd on 1996 dodge caravan

Check all the fuses, I have seen a wierd situation where the third brake light worked, but not the regular brake lights...replacing the blown cigarette lighter fuse fixed this... although it really shouldn't have.

SOURCE: how do i remove brake stop light switch.

on drivers side, follow the brake pedal arm upward under the dash, you'll see the switch module. Twist it gently 1/4 turn counter clockwise and it should release.

None of my guages (gas, speed,temp.) on my dash, work on my 1998 Dodge Caravan. Not a constant problem, just random. The brake light and check engine light are on. Any thoughts on what could be wrong?

Oops. The brake light if on should be investigated first. The fluid level, is it low?

Also, if the check engine light is on, the codes should be read on an OBD-II scanner to get a clue as to what is wrong.

Check the gauge fuse for the gauges going out randomly. The gauge assembly may have a bad connection in the harness though.

Utility trailer wiring to 1998 Dodge Carivan

Trailer end; Red=Brake
Brown=Running lights
You will need a turn and brake signal box IF, you have different bulbs for brake and turn lamps. If the brake and turn bulbs are one(red)lens than no box will be required. Thanks, Dana

Both brake lights not working and bulbs seem fine. Is there a fuse?

I doubt it’s the fuse. Usually the fuse for the brake lights is also the fuse for something else, so you would have more than just the brake lights out. If you’re sure the bulbs are good, it would more likely be the stop light switch. It should be in a position where the brake pedal actuates it. If you want to check the fuses, their location is covered in the owners manual.
