SOURCE: red warning light - check engine

You need to have it scanned to see what code turned on the light.

SOURCE: Coolant light

If you locate the water expansion tank (front of the bonnet, opened, with the pressure-cap to top-up if necessary) - check that there's sufficient coolant in there (check whilst the engine is cold).

If so, you may be suffering the same problem as a lot of RX8 owners, with a dodgy coolant level sensor in the tank. One way to confirm this is to remove the connector to the tank - on the left-hand side of the tank as you look from the front (not the air-conditioning connector, immediately to the left of it, attached to an aluminium billet). Ensure the (now free-hanging) connector from the wiring loom is safely stowed and give it a test drive. If you're satisified that the warning goes away then you know that the level sensor in the tank is faulty (and therefore the warning light is spurious). Unfortunately, that's a pricey item to replace (dealer price, UK, in the region of £200).

Remember, leaving the coolant sensor unplugged to avoid the spurious warnings would mean that a genuine problem that resulted in (catestrophic) loss of coolant would then go undetected, until too late. So do this at your peril.

On the Owner's Manual there's a procedure you have to follow to bleed the air in the cooling system, until you bleed the system for air, the low coolant light will come on every time.

The process is rather simple and quick, all you need is a flat head screw driver.

DO NOT OPEN THE COOLING SYSTEM WHEN HOT.

Good Luck!! Don't forget to rate this post!!

Warning light

To tell you something like: Engine low on water, low on oil, thermostat stuck partway or closed? Oxygen sensor or catalytic converter clogged, coolant temperature sensor terminals dirty or rusty, or sensor defective? Gas cap not screwed on correctly? Some vehicles may be telling you to change oil, and/ or check filters for scheduled service? Just to pick a few reasons out of the air.

Water temperature drops to 100 and warning light comes on while setting still. goes to normal when you drive a little

just to be clear, is it water temp or water pressure gage you are looking at? If it is temp than i think you thermostat is sticking open and you may need a coolant flush or thermostat replaced.

I have a citroen synergie 1litre tdi with the the cooling system light coming on when idling and going off when driving. I need to top it up... that much I get, but with what please? Water or something...

My suggestion would be to consulg the owners manual for the recomended coolant to be used, if the info can not be fo.und consult your local dealer as most manufacturer have premixed coolants I would not recomend adding any water until further information has been aquired.

If the water pump goes out , would the radiator warning light come on?

If it has a coolant level sensor in the radiator yes it will, due to low on coolant due to water leaking from water pump, coolant will leak from water pump if bad, unless it just has bad water pump bearing's, then some time's it will not leak and just make a noise.

At high speed engine temperature is Ok, at low

What is your fan doing? Take it out for a spin and warm everything up. Park it in the drive and look at the fan right behind your radiator. If your fan is not spinning or cycling that's your problem. If your fan is spinning then my question to you is:, "Is your van overheating? And how do you know?" The gauge can be wrongor something else. Sorry if this didn't help.

Red light is going on that describes a temperature issue. The warning goes off at times and then comes back. There is no leak spots, and the coolant is not going in the oil. The coolant gets low at a rapid...

Sounds like a blown water pump. These leak very quickly when they go and would definitely cause the issues you are experiencing. It would not be recommended to drive the vehicle until it is replaced.

Coolant warning lights keeps coming on

Hello what i would do replace the fluid level run your car with the heater on hood up watch under your car for any fluid leaking if so try to determin about where it is coming from one of the hoses could have a small hole or a clamps not tight enough the right way is with a pressure checker but this is the best way for non proffesional rule out all hoses clamps and over flow bottle leaks before you start replacing parts goodluck please rate thanks
