Chances are either you have a plugged evap system , possibly have a hole in the fuel pump hose or even a bad gas cap. However more information would be required to give you an educated guess like what make/ model / year ? As my crystall ball is a lil cloudy at the moment

Did you remove all air from the tubing from the gas tank to the fuel pump? Read more on the net about air bubbles in the fuel line.

Fuel tank problems

check to see if any normal tank vent lines are plugged up or disconnected ..some also have a fuel recirculation setup on them.. when its lower in fuel level the gas will bubble into the tank causing pressure buildup..

Will not start will crank will start with starting fluid but when quit spraying eng quits

`Probably the fuel pump in the tank has stopped working. Verify with a check for power at the gas tank connector: When the engine is cranking, the fuel pump wire should have power on it-use a test light or voltmeter. If the wire has power, but pump will not turn on, the gas tank will have to be removed to replace the pump.
Just by turning the key to on, not start, will or should cause the fuel pump to come on for about 2 seconds to pressurize the fuel lines and put gas under pressure against the fuel injectors. If you don't hear the pump buzz on for a brief time, you know you need to check the fuel pump circuit. Check fuse, check fuel pump relay...but the easiest way to verify a bad pump is to check fuel pressure, or check for power at the gas tank when the engine is cranking. No power is a fault in the circuit (fuse, relay, wiring), power available to the pump but no pump means the pump will have to be replaced .

Air bubbles in fuel tank

Can you be a bit more specific, perhaps? You might just be hearing it slosh around, this is normal.

Hi I am working on a 1991 nissan pathfinder and it is not getting any gas. I put a new fuel pump and a new fuel filter and changed the fuel pump relay, But still no gas. you can hear the pump kick on. and...

Disconnect ( or at least loosen) the fuel line as close to the engine fuel delivery system as you can and see if there is fuel pressure. You may have a vapour lock. If you do get pressure how much ? Is it sufficient to supply your requirements. A "new fuel pump" does not always mean a "good fuel pump" - from experience!!! If you do not have fuel at the engine work back to each fuel line connection to were there is fuel pressure if at all. I am not a Nissan expert but the principles are the same for all. You do not say if it is fuel injected or carburated. FI requires higher pressures than carbs. Hope this helps. Let me know how you do in your efforts. Thanks Good luck.

Ran out of gas on my 1998 ford explorer an now it wont start i put gas an it just cranks but no start any solutions out there

Make sure you have at least 5 gallons of gas in the tank. If you hear the fuel pump power up test the fuel pressure at the end of the injection rail if you have fuel injection. If you have a carburetor injection system remove the air cleaner so you can prime the Carb and pour an ounce or 2 directly into the carb and see if it will start. If it doesn't you may have a much larger problem. If it doesn't start when you prime the carb you need to do a compression check on the cylinders to see if you have lost compression on the cylinders. Being this old of a vehicle it is possible the Timing Chain broke which gives you the same symptom as running out of gas when it happens and the motor is running. If you have actual fuel injection with an injection rail, assuming the fuel pump is powering up (You should be able to hear it), you can bleed air off the line in most cases using the check valve at the end of each rail. It is sometimes covered by a small dust cap and when you remove the cap it looks like a standard valve you would find in any tire stem. You can release the air bubbles from the line like you would release the air from a tire by pressing the center of the check valve. That will remove the possibility that you have air bubbles in the line.

Not pumping fuel will not start, only rear tank was working untill ran out of fuel put in gas will not start ?

If there is power to the fuel pump, check the fuel pressure. If power and no pressure, then pump is bad. Water in the tanks will kill the pumps fast.

I have a 1988 Ford F250 with the 460 engine and duel tanks it is factory fuel injected.....the front tank ran out of gas so I switched it to the rear tank( the same as many times before) the truck died and...

The fuel pump relay and the oil pressure switch as well. The oil pressure switch runs power to the fuel pump when you first start it
When the oil pressure reaches operating range the relay takes over
They are both inexpensive so replace both of these parts to be safe and kill two birds with one stone. If one goes out the other will soon enough

if its petrol engine bang bottom of fuel tank while some one else cranks vehicle over if it starts good just pump jammed if it dont buzz to life and you cant hear fuel pump buzzing ceck for power to it if thats there replace pump. running out of fuel kills electric fuel pumps internally in petrol tanks.

if its diesel you must bleed fuel system taking extreme care if you un do lines some very high pressure
