such a girl, what year is your elantra? Do you have the owner's manual? It should have that info. Your problem may be the stoplight switch (aka brake light switch), which is attached to the upper brake pedal. Not too difficult to replace, if you have cruise, It's $28, no cruise, $18.

Drivers side under the dash under a cover.or on the side of the dash behind the driver side door under a cover( Covers just pop off) tricky if youve never seeen one before. hope this helps. changing the bulbs is easy too. once you locate the other side of the brake lights in the trunk you just twist the connector and the bulb and socket will pop out. make sure you pull out the right bulbs. pull them out then try the brake if they dont work you know thats the bulbs. but yes check your fuses first.

Why don't i have any tail lights on my truck? no fuse in the fusebox for tail lights can anybody help me please?

Have you checked that your break light switch has not gone bad? It's located at the base the of steering column, just behind the brake pedal.

Also, check the brake light circuit. Start at the fuse box under the hood and make sure the brake lights fuse is not blown, the terminals are free of corrosion and that the connections are tight. Then check the brake light switch on the bake pedal arm.

Brake lights don't work, dash lights come on when brakes are applied and cruise goes off when headlights are turned on

brake lights operate off a simple switch mounted to the bracket of the brake peddle. that switch can easily have a wire pulled out, the switch it self dies from use. a fuse in the fuse box in the lower part of the could be blow. as far as the cruise going off when headlights are turned on, could be the switch on the column itself is worn out. remember your girl is a teenager now, they give you the most random problems. Case 4210 wiring diagram

It can be faulty brake light switch causing the problem or its blown brake light bulb.First check and confirm brake light lamp is working and that's not the case.

Brake light s not working but third light does. and flashers work

Does the 3rd brake light turn off & on with the stomp of the brake pedal?Do the normal running light work?Their is more then one location for fuses for this vehicle.. did you check them all?One is located in the engine compartment far as I know it does not have a separate fuse for rear brake lights. The second one is of course under the dash. The thrid is a rear power distribution box located near the spare tire... btw other fuses could cause this issue like towing light fuse possibly.. so make sure you check them all. Of course start with brake lights first.

ljones, Did you check the "VEH stop" fuse in the left side instrument panel fuse box. There are 3 stop light fuses, 1 for all the stop lights located in the under hood fuse box. 2 in the left side IP fuse box. 1 for the upper stop light and 1 for the lower stop lights. The fuse box in the IP is where the upper and lower stop lights split. Let me know.

No brake lights and no turn signal

Check the fuses that are associated with the brake lights and turn signal. The fuse box is located below the steering column and the fuse box diagram (for fuse assignment) is located in the owner's manual. I hope this helps.
