Hi Guys!
I work in a transmission and torque converter remanufacturing plant and have seen this many times! I hate to tell you that your transmission is shot! There is metal in the fluid and some of it got caught in a solenoid not letting fluid through to shift the gears. You will need a rebuild! About $2500 dollars. Of course if you in Pittsburgh, Pa. area I could do it for about half that. Any questions e-mail me at mach1cnc@msn.com

I have a 07 jeep Laredo that won't shift can you help.

is it a auto or stick?? a/t or M/t box, (m= manual)
my guess auto as most auto drivers never seen or heard of stick.
so>?...>>
if auto , that is complex. there are 100's of symptoms on those boxes.
wont shift tells me what
its stuck in 1st gear, and reverse is dead too.??
or slips at times.

read the FSM first?
or get it serviced,? ever rebuild one? i bet not.
A/T box (WILD GUESS)

check levels yet, per book ,DO NOT GUESS>, read.
its a grand Cherokee, laredo. aka. WK jeep.
there are 3 automatic transmission used. name one.
and 2 transfer cases (yours stuck in neutral>?) NV-???
the pages that cover this are
page 5189-6243 in the shop manual, read the on car tests.

1994 jeep 42re transmission shifting problem

I'm having a problem with my tranny not wanting to shift automatically at all. Seems like a dead stop its stuck in low gear. Have to manually shift and does not go into overdrive. I have a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Can anyone help me cause I've swiched out throttle control sensor, filter change, new tranny cooler and heavy duty lines. I'm at a loss and scratching my head. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Won't go into 4 low

Have you tried shifting the automatic transmission to neutral, or if manual transmission- place shift lever to neutral position, then shift the transfer case to neutral position wait a couple seconds then try shifting to 4 low- if you have manual hubs, engage those last. This removes most of the potential mechanical resistance that should allow for the transfer case to shift.

If it still will not go into 4 low you may be dealing with damaged teeth, bent shift dog or worn internal bearings inside the transfer case. As I recall, that was NOT a shift on the fly transfer case.

What are the symptoms of a speed sensor going bad on a 1997 jeep grand cherokee laredo 6 cyl.

Since alot of things rely on data from the speed sensor you will "usually" get an ABS alarm, little or no shifting,no indication of speed on the speedometer, and the check engine light. without the abs light and with a speed indicated I would lean toward a transmission problem

I have 2001 Jeep Grand cherokee Laredo, 4.0, today the MIL came on and is solid the, transmission will not shift automatically but seems to work in each gear when shifted manually. 97000m and this just...

it sounds like your transmission is beginning to fail. this is common on chrysler products. at least it seems that the problem can be caught before a complete failure, that should ease the strain on the pocket book. my suggestion is take it to your local transmission shop and have them put a scan tool on it. there are many places who will check it out for free, so be sure to ask around.

Eratic shifting of gears at speeds of 55 to 75

I would check the transmission fluid level and color, should be a nice clear red color. You may need to have the filter replaced. Possibly some internal transmission problem also.

get a filter and fluid change in the transmission.
that 5 speed automatic is tricky.

do a code scan and see if there is a vacuum leak telling it to shift too late
