Question about 1998 Lexus ES 300

1 Answer

My cigaratte lighter outlet stopped working. I found another 12V oulet in a box between the driver and front passenger seat, which I started using then. But after a month or so that too stopped working. So my questions is what could be the problem with my 1998 Lexus ES 300.

interior fuse box lower dash drivers side the lid will give the fuse location etc . the rear 'lighter socket ' is usually for 12v auxillary input lead ie tyre compressor , unless it had a lighter in it, don't use this as a lighter socket as will blow fuse , the same may be for the front as most cars i've seen post 2008 dont have cigarette lighter's only 12v AUX sockets . check with your drivers handbook

I can't get power to my lighter and 12v plug up front in my 2005 kia sedona

remove the socket and check the connections, then test with a test light top see if you have power there, disconnection is the most common problem.

{: ) There are two fuses that protect the front IP power outlet or lighter plugs. At the underhood fuse block, labeled CIG LTR 15amps and AUX PWR 20amps. See red arrows on diagram below.
The fuse on the driver side door fuse block labeled AUX PWR2 20amps protects the rear lighter plugs.

Cannot locate where the fuse is that controls my cigarette lighter in front console and the passenger back seat. The lighter in the very back of my vehicle works. I want to replace the fuse. My lighter...

Hi, that fuse is in the box under the hood. See pic below. I think it's fuse 32. Fuse 45 also powers those outlets but also power a lot of other circuits. The fuse for the outlet in the very back of the car is on the interior fuse panel, #14. All of this information is in your owners manual. The electrical outlet in the Montana SV6 is not working. Could it be a fuse? Where would we find the fuse if that is the problem.

On our 2001 Chevrolet Venture (same vehicle under the sheet metal), both the front and rear 12v outlets are controlled by the same fuse, which is in the fuse box located next to the passenger front door. If one of these outlets blows the fuse (a portable ball/tire inflator will do the trick with us), all of them will shut down.
I have also had the 12v outlets stop working, even when the fuse was good. I discovered that I had a bad connection at the fuse box; wiggling the fuse box assembly itself would cause the outlets to flicker on and off. Detaching and re-attaching the modular cable that connects the fuse block seems to have corrected that problem for the most part. However, sometimes, our 12v outlet will still flicker, even though power remains constant to everything else in the vehicle.

The drivers side power window, heated seat and 12v outlet do not work. is it a fuse?

Could be, but do the rest of the windows work? If so, then it could be the switch, since the driver window gets the most use. These items should be separate- unless they all stopped at the same tim- then it could be a wiring issue somewhere. Take off the cover of the fuse box. It is at the end of the driver side dash panel. Open the frivers door, and look at a "D" shaped panel on the end of the dash. A sharp pull will dislodge it. On the BACK side of that panel will be a listing of each fuse on the fuse box. One by one, locate the different fuses that you suspect could be the culprit(s) Take one out, inspect it, replace it if it is good. keep going until either you have exhausted the possibilities, or found the one causing the issue. I cannot find a fuse for the heated seats in my schematics, so I think it may be a relay. Is it only the driver side heated seat? Again, it gets the most use. Check underneath to see if it could be unplugged or loose. And I cannot find a circuit in the schematic for the 12V outlet (cigar lighter in the old parlance) either.
Good luck on this. I hope it helpes. Let us know if any of these things hit on your issue!
