The black wire from the battery connects to the solenoid terminal. The BLK/BLU wire connects to the starter motor.

Need to replace the starter

remove the battery terminals, remove wires from starter, remove starter, replace with new starter, hook wires back up to starter and battery. Remember where the wires go as you take them off, once you mix them up, its hard to figure out where they went if you don't take a mental note or lable them with masking tape etc.

REFITTED STARTER MOTOR BUT CANT REMEMBER WHERE THIN RED WIRE GETS ATTACHED TO WILL IT BE THE SAME TERMINAL AS POSITIVE

The thin wire usually gets attached to the solenoid and is the wire that comes from the starter switch. However if that wire is already connected and the wire in question has a large enough lug on it then it could well go on the main terminal and supply some other source with a live feed.

How do you replace the starter on a 99 mazda 626 lx 4cl?

its not to bad to do it yourself. you will have to jack up that car pretty high and us some good flexible ratchets to get the bolts off. you can follow the wires from the battery cables and it will connect to the starter. make sure you disconnect the battery first. you will see it to your left from the center of the engine when you are laying underneath your car. kinda looks like a cylinder attached to the engine. if you cant do it have a pro mess with it unless you have time on your hands. make sure to check the wire connectors to the starter or else it will make poor contact and drain your battery as well. they start to rot after being over 10 yrs old but you cant tell unless you peel off the tape or rubber molding on the copper wires.

How to change a starter on a 96 mazda 626 ?

Write down the radio's activation code prior to disconnecting the battery' s negative terminal.

Remove the air-intake duct and the air filter housing. (assuming this your car is 4-cylinder)
Remove the bracket that runs between the inlet manifold and the starter-motor.
The starter-motor is by the left-side of the transmission over the axle-shaft.
Disconnect its solenoid wire and the positive wire attached to the starter-motor.
Remove the three 14mm bolts holding it up.
Once taken out, exchange it for a rebuilt one at your local autoparts store.
Installation is reverse of removal.

What procedures do I take when removing and installing a new starter? 1991 lexus ls 400

Let engine cool down, remove battery terminals (negative first, then positve), remove starter. Install starter, install battery terminals (positive first, then negative), start and check for proper operation (no grinding noise or squeling).
