SOURCE: where are the timing chain marks ona 2000 pontiac grand am

On a 2.4, there are no timing marks...There are holes in the cam gears that need to be aligned with corresponding holes in the head.
Though it's not terribly difficult to do, it must be done precisely according to instructions or valves will hit the pistons and destroy the engine. You can find instructions for this procedure in haynes and other vehicle service manuals. (too long to write out here).
Remember...this is an exact install...you cannot just get close!!!
Good luck! Post back if you need further specific instructions with any part of the job.

SOURCE: replacing the timing belt 2000 grand am looking

Your crank and cams all have marks on them, they might be just dots, but they are there, your new belt should have marks on it too. Line up all the marks, and you should be all set. I take a white out marker to make them stand out better, and I mark the belt the same way. If your new belt doesn't have marks on it, look at the old and see if it does, then transfer the marks to it. These have got to be right or I will give your engine about 11miles. Clamp down the cam pulley before you remove the old belt, they have a tendency to move.

What is the correct timing chain installation on 2000 grand cherokee 4.0 engine

the timing marks are to line up and face each other
then fin the chain
then turn the crank until the crank sprocket is facing down timing mark is facing down
the cam mark should be in the 2 oclock position
there should be 15 links between marks
form your description that is what you have done so the problem is not in the timing chain installation
back firing is normally from a valve still open when the spark occurs so check firing order or the distributor installation is not 180 degrees out

Can you show me the timing mark/s on a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7

Here are the timing marks for this 2000 Cherokee 4.7 engine, take a close look at cam gears for markings, and crank is lined up using the pulley, after new chain is installed spin with a socket slowly two turns ,make sure there is no binding, if so stop and go back, if it spins good then at second turn make sure all marks line up. good day11_13_2012_7_44_10_pm.gif11_13_2012_7_44_33_pm.gif

My 2000 jeep grand cherokee doesnt turn on i changed camshaft sensor crank position sensor and fuel pump still not functioning what is it

You Need to Know If it Is 1,Getting Spark , 2. Has FUEL Proper PRESSURE, 3, you Have Check For A Timing Chain Problem as in (JUMPED TIMING) Any Millage Above 75,000 Makes it a Candidate For Timing Chain Stretching thus Causing it to Jump Out of timing and When It Does this It >>WILL HAVE SPARK AND PROPER FUEL PRESURE)<< To Check Remove #1 Spark Plug and Bar/Turn over Engine (>MANUALY Slowly Until #1 Piston Is at TDC TOP DEAD CENTER) Determine this By Using a Long STRAW Inserted In the Spark Plug Hole and Feel top Of Piston as it Moves Up When it gets ALL THE WAY UP<< Look @ the Timing Indicator Markings At BOTTOM PULLEY and If It Is NOT LINED UP It HAS Jumped Time, Repeat this 2 TIMES WITH 2 CONSECUTIVE Rotations Of the Bottom Pulley to Be SURE of The Discovery.

2000 pontiac grand am 2.4l, no markings on the sprockets for the timing, what is the positions of sprockets to put in alignment?

You will need two small bolt's, that you thread through the hold's on the cam gear's, into the back housing, hope this was very helpful.

Timing marks for the Dodge 2.4L caravan, 2000

To align both sets of timing marks, turn engine crankshaft to the right with belt on cam and crank. Once you have done this the crankshaft alignment mark (on front of crankshaft gear) will line up with mark to the rear of gear on engine block. The two cam gear timing marks should be alines across from one another. The right cam gear is the intake side and the left side is the exhaust side. After removing the belt turn the exhaust cam down 1/2 notch. Timing mark on exhaust 1/2 notch down from the intake side. Install new belt and recheck everything to make sure it's all correct. Hope this will help you.

How to and where are witness marks to reinstall timing chain on a 2000 Pontiac Grand AM 2.4

YOU WILL SEE A HOLE IN THE CAM GEAR THAT A 3/8 BOLT WILL FIT INTO. PUT A BOLT INTO THE HOLES OF BOTH CAM GEARS. THEN LINE UP THE CRANK PULLEY KEYWAY AT ABOUT 12 O'CLOCK WITH THE MARK ON THE ENGINE BLOCK.

MAKE SURE TO COMPRESS THE CHAIN TENSIONER AND RELEASE IT WHEN THE CHAIN IS IN POSITION.
