Question about Mercedes-Benz 190-Class

1 Answer

Hi, I have 2000Reg vito Van v220, in the beginning the speed cutter was slowing the car, and some diesel was leaking from the engine when I stop the car. I also had difficulty in that occasions. Then, I could not drive faster than 120 kmph, due to speed cutter. I ignored replacement the speed cutter. Later on the water light has started showing water loss, I have kept water adding. Later on oii lamp started warning. The temperature gage was always fine 80 degree celcius. I have also seen water was coming out from the exhaust I stopped using the car now. There is no oil lost from the engine. Ther is no white mayonese indication in oil. Wahat is wrong with the car. Head gasket? water pump? thermostate? crack on the engine block? Can anyone help plese? Thanks. Mr. Selo.

Thanks to tccservice for the advice: I have replaced (actually an ordinary local mechanic has done) the head gasket, water pump and thermostate. The vito was seemed at the beginning, but the water indication light has started getting on again (just same day). Now, the heater in the car does not work properly, the lipstick shows some mayonese, the pipe coming from the thermostate to cooling front radiator carries a lot of air, taht the pipe alike a baloon filled with over air. It seems the mechanic has not done his work properly, perhaps has forgot to add cooling liquid in the engine. It is such a shame. Car is same as before the gasket replaced. Since ther is no proper mechanic to repair it arounn my local, I have to repair the car myself. Help please, who is well-skilled on this matter. Thanks.Mr Selo.

I have solve the speed cutter problem which was independent than the blown gasket I guess. Theer iis a little plug just under the right hand side of the bonnet, the cable was disconnected from the plug, I just plugged it than speed was ok.

SOURCE: Oil in water but no water in oil

I would have the fluid tested to be sure it contains oil before going any further.

SOURCE: possible oil leak from head gasket or crack in

if oil is leaking from the the top to bottom, check the gasket below the cover that has the daewoo name and sign on on top of the engine block. it could be cracked. replace with new one without any gasket sealant just replace the original and done

The hot air from the vents begins to cool down when the vehicle is stopped or slows down.

sounds like a possible plugged heater core, restricting the flow of coolant. those require a special tool to remove, quick disconnect, just remove both hose from the heater core and back flush the heater core with a garden hose, NOTICE DO NOT DO THIS WHILE HOT IT WILL BURN YOU, this can make a mess, flush it both ways untill it flows clean and with even pressure, then refill the coolant and road test the vehicle to see if is changed.

Vito 2006 109cdi. fuse number 41 is blowing (engine fuse)

engine light stays on
the ecu will have fault codes stored to be read
that will point to the cause and a fix of the over load

my best information on a vito if diesel..says
10 amp fuse 41 . glow plugs

you must need the van on the road very badly
30 amp in a 10 amp fuse position can
melt the wiring even a fire

VAN SOUNDS LIKE ITS TRYING TO START AFTER I SHUT IT OFF

this is what we call "dieseling"
it is the engine running WITHOUT spark plugs

This happens when you have leaking injectors and carbon build up in the engine (pistons/valves)

try shutting off the engine while in park
keep your foot on the brake because you might find the engine has enough power to actually move the van

keep us posted
