Question about 2002 Nissan Xterra

1 Answer

Have a 2002 nissan xterra with 3.3 engine (no super charger)have been going through my repair manual and I can't find the location of the crankshaft sensor! I have looked on other websites and can't seem to find it anywhere. Just need to know where to go so I don't end up taking the whole car apart looking for it. :-)

Don't worry because I find the repair manual for Xterra! You can download it very easy without registration or something else.
Also you can download free the owners manual for your car, maybe will help you to locate that sensor!
Have a good day.

SOURCE: nissan xterra knock sensor

It's the valley of the engine underneath the intake manifold. It's about an $800 job because the top of the engine has to come off. However, unless you have a supercharged xterra it shouldn't effect performance. Also, the knock sensor will not trip the check engine light, as it does not indicate a primary problem, so if your light is on you should have another code that should be fixed first.

SOURCE: can't find the location for the crankshaft position sensor

you need a haynes manual . because crank sensor can be behind crank pulley or on bottom side of engine that why you need a manual save you time.

I have a 2002 nissan xterra with a supercharger. The truck started smoking after a noise form the SC and lost power...Any thoughts on what might be causing this...

it sounds like there is a problem with the supercharger that needs repair or replacing depending on what has been damaged.the smoke is from the charger blowing oil into the motor.i would say the super charger will need to be replaced and hopefully there is no engine damaged.

2002 nissan xterra timing belt would that effect the internal engine damage?

Timing belts should be changed every 60,000. Different car makes state different mileage but as a whole 60,000 miles and you should replace the timing belt.

The belt keeps the crankshaft and camshaft in time with one another. And is very important. If you dont change them when they need changing. It can cause extreme engine damage so yes it can effect the internal engine damage.

Where is the knock sensor located on the 2002 nissan xterra 3.3l v-6 ?

I think it is located under the intake manifold. See if there is a wire going under the manifold on the transmission side.

2000 Nissan Xterra Service Engine soon indicator is always on

The knock sensor is not a huge deal to replace and will not turn on the light. It should be dont though.

The crankshaft sensor is located directly between the engine and transmission. It is dead center at the bottom.
