Must not be on marks. If don't move pulleys or put marks beforehand should have been able to change with no probs. Put a timing light on it.

DID THE BELT BREAK AND THEN IT WAS CHANGED. If so then you may have bent valve. IF NOT then vehicle may be timed wrong. Here is a diagram of your timing marks, http://www.2carpros.com/car_repair_information/tec_info/2002/hyundai/accent/2002_hyundai_accent_timing_belt_diagram_marks.htm contact if you need more help. SOURCE: I have changed the timing belt on a 99 Dodge Stratus with a 2.4 liter engine. All timing marks are aligned properly according to Haynes diagram and the engine will still not start. It tries to start

INFO:99 Dodge Stratus-
I've had crank sensor malfunction twice in as few as 4 months. This time I determined that the frayed belt, abused sensor, perhaps it was frayed first time around and missed it I don't know? Maybe this helps the next guy.

SOURCE: changed timing belt on my 99 ford escort zx2 car no

if you have a no spark scenario i would check your crank sensor located at the top left side of the harmonic balance pulley.the crankshaft (about 11'oclock) a 2 wire plug with a sensor on it check to see if it is damaged or unsecured. this sensor can cause no spark if not working correctly. This sensor is based of frequency not voltage testing is difficult, just make sure that there isnt too muck air gap. and that it is secured.Lastly may want to check timing possible that the belt has jumped some teeth and she has fallen out of timing. maybe a bad tensioner The coil will adapt i think up to 10 degree, ****** or advance. Good luck

At how many miles should i change my timing belt? 2002 ford escort 2.0 liter

According to the 1997-2002 Ford Escort Manual the average replacement interval is every 60,000 Miles (96,000 Kilometers). I unfortunately procrastinated and my timing belt snapped at 109,000 Miles and I had to go to the junk yard for a new engine. I had to replace a whole engine for not replacing a $15.00 belt.

At what mileage should i replace the timing belt on 2002 escort 2.0 liter?

Timing belt problems are common with the Ford Escort, mine went, without warning, at 50,000 mi. When your ready to replace it, have the water pump replaced at the same time, it'll save you $$$ in the long run.

1995 Ford Escort LX Wagon 1.9 Liter. 173K Loud Vibration

Is the engine running on all four cylinders, no missfire? If so, check the engine and transmission mounts, there are four, one at the top right hand side, one at the top of transmission on the left hand side, and one on front of transmission bell housing, and one in the rear transmission bell housing, any of them that are bad can cause this vibration. Hope this helps, let me know.

Ineed a timing diagram for 1995 1.9 ford escort

both the cam gear and the crank gear timing marks should point straight up. if you are replacing your timing belt you may also want to replace your timing belt tensioner and water pump. I have owned several escorts and have learned the hard way that it is a good idea to replace all of these at the same time.
