Question about Toyota Tacoma
I have a 2007 Toyota Tacoma. The check engine light came on. Thus far I took the truck to two places and I was told that there is nothing wrong with the vehicle and that there were two error messages and at least one of them indicated a low voltage. I replaced the original battery at Auto Zone about 8 months ago so I don't think its the battery. The technician at Toyota just reset the light and within a week the light came back on. Any ideas what the problem could be?

Take it to an accredited auto electrician and have the alternator and voltage checked for correct operation
battery has no service life so one at 8 months or 1 month is no guarantee that it is not defective
have it load tested as well

SOURCE: Code P0401 1998 Toyota Camry
I'm assuming that it is a four cyl.The p0401 code is for insufficient egr flow. Most of the time it is the egr vsv valve (vsv means vacuum switching valve)which is what controls the vacuum to the egr valve to open it.It is kind of hard to get to as it is on the block under the head on the back side.If you follow the hose from the egr valve it goes to the vsv.I have also seen mice eat holes in the vacuum line which would also give you problems.I hope this help and let me know if you have anymore questions

pull the E.F.I. fuse located under the hood on the drivers side, if there is more than 1 efi fuse pull them both along with the E.T.C.S. fuse (if there is one) for 1 minute or so. That should do it

Tips for a great answer:
engine light comes on and off, these are indication that there is some
error code stored in your vehicles ECM. The engine module computer
needs to be scanned. These will give the code and as per the error code the
further problem can be detected and confirmed. The engine light
indicator blinks or remains steady on dash when engine computer
noticed any problem with any engine electrically operated components.
more help, I suggest you to refer the help links provided below. These will let
you know more about which areas to look, check, when there is engine light
coming up on dash panel.
