Fan clutch screws on to the water pump. You can loosen it with a big adjustable wrench (it is about 1 1/2" or 1 9/16" hex). Leave the bolts for the pulley in so you could wedge a screwdriver under a bolt head to keep the pulley from turning. Give the wrench a hard **** to loosen and it should turn off by hand. Right hand threads so you will be turning it counter clockwise to remove.

You need to poke a small extension with a 13mm socket through the holes in the power steering pulley, undo it, and slide it back.

The pulley must come off in order to remove the last bolt. The bolt sits to the 12 oclock position just behing the lip of the pulley. The center bolt of the pulley is an allen key. Which way to turnin order to remove the pulley I do not know.

Is there a special tool for 2003 saturn vue v6 to remove the water pump pully

The pulley is secured to the pump with 3 bolts. You may have to use a screwdriver to slip between 2 bolts at a time to provide leverage to loosen all the bolts. Once bolts removed the pulley comes right off

Water pump

Is it a 99 or an 03? Either way fairly simple. You will need to remove the splash shield on the passenger side wheel well. Removing tire is optional. If it is a 99, the pump should be located near the radiator. Loosen the bolts that hold the pulley on the pump before removing the belt. This will save you time later. Remove the belt, then remove the pulley. Take all the bolts out of the waterpump. Install in reverse order. If it is an 03, it is near the firewall side of the motor. Remove shield, loosen pulley bolts. The pulley will not come off until you get the water pump out, but you need to remove the bolts for it any way. Take the bolts out of the waterpump. You will need a pry bar to get the pump/pulley out. You can pry on the tensioner against the fenderwell and wiggle it out. Install in reverse order.

With the water pump removed, you have to heat the body of the water pump. There is a O-Ring that seizes the tube into the water pump. Sometimes you can just loosen the bolt and heat the pump with it still bolted up the engine. Use some pliers to wiggle the tube while pulling the tube. When you put it back together replace the o-ring and add some rtv sealant around the o-ring too. This helps the seizing problem. Hope this helps

SNAPPED WATER PUMP BOLTS

Unfortunately, I've had this exact same issue with my F-150 5.0L... The pump bolts go through the timing chain cover and into the block. However, if you're lucky, once you finally do get the timing cover off(which will have to be removed at this point), you might have enough bolt hanging out of the block to get a grip on and possibly back the rest of the way out. There is a penetrating spray on the market called PB Blaster that is the very best at freeing up seized bolts. Spray it down really good and give it a day or so to penetrate. Not too sure of what size of easy-out you'd need, but I ended up having to drill mine out and putting in helo-coils. It's a real pain, but aside from junking the block, it's about the only option available. One more thing...if you do get all of your bolts out, before trying to put them back in, make sure to take an air compressor and blow out all of the bolt holes as they tend to get a lot of corrosion inside that will, 99% of the time, cause even more snapped bolts when trying to reinstall your new water pump, as this is what happened to me. Hope this helps and from one guy who's had to deal with this headache to another getting ready to...good luck, and no matter what you might begin to think, a gallon of gas and a match are not a better way of dealing with it, though it will sound tempting. Try to have a nice day!
