If you reply in "comments in your original post I will get an email that will let me know you have further questions. Makes it a little easier to help you solve your issue as I may not run across additional questions that you may have.

The EEC power relay supplies power to the fuel injectors. If there is power to the fuel injectors than the relay is fine. It also provides power to the EGR, canister purge, EEC Module and the IAC. again if you have power to these than the relay is working.

If you do not have power to these and you also do not have power to the fuel pump than check the fusible links. There is one link that protects the circuit that provides power to both of these relays.

If you have power to the fuel pump but no power to the injectors than check for power on the red with green wire either at the coil or at the ignition module. If there is no power there than there is another fusible link that protects that circuit. That circuit also provides power to the coil side of the EEC power relay. If there is no power on that wire the relay will not energize.

Go to Autozone.com and register your vehicle and get a free wiring diagram and powerbox layout. Although it sounds like you have some info.

Sounds like something dependent on the injector circuit is smoked. A bad relay, a bad fuelpump, find out which connects through the injector loop that is not connected when the injectors are out. You should be able to trace it back.

I mentioned the fuelpump because it coasts until the injectors dump fuel into the engine and runs only shortly until the pressure regulator signals a need to kick in again. Perhaps a fuel pressure regulator?

Would be interested in what you find.

ooops, This happens much more than you would think. Several things here to explore. You probably have more damage beyond the original reason you needed to jump start your car.

First, you can get helpful chassis and fusebox diagrams for free from Autozone.com when you register your car to the site.

Usually the Master fusible link around the battery will melt when this happens. There can be more than one location for fuses as the system breaks down the voltage to smaller units for each job.

You should have a Relay for the fuel circuit and these types of relays are in a Powerbox which is a Master power source for the smaller fuse holders in the fusebox.

You may want to ask your car insurance carrier about Comprehensive coverage which may cover this repair. Comprehensive is a catch-all insurance for oddball events like this.

Sometimes it is better to leave the battery disconnected and use an Ohmmeter to find out if the wires are melted or fuses are destroyed. If you had the Ignition key off when you jumped the wrong cable, then the damage may be minimized. The Ignition key would have kept some circuits turned off in its OFF position. Otherwise much more could have been hurt by this.

Your fuel pump pressure may be measured at a test tap above the fuel rail. You can borrow a pressure meter from one of the big autoparts stores like Autozone or any place with tool loaner programs. If power is restored, the fuel pump pressure should pressurize the system. If it does not, then check the fuse or the Relay before blaming the pump.

You may also need to borrow an electric injector tester. The fuel pump may work, and also the Relay to power it. But the brain of your car needs to tell the Injectors to work. It is a simply lightbulb shaped to fit in the socket of the Injector wires and it will show if the Injectors are getting juice to operate.

I hope you find my solution helpful. There really is not to much written about what can break when this happens.

If you get it running and a "check engine" light comes on, take it to Autozone, Oreillys, or Advance for a free scan to see what else is wrong.

Check under the hood for a box containing your fusible links (they look like large blade fuses in most modern vehicles). The fuel pump relay only operates the fuel pump. It doesn't provide power to the rest of the fuel system. Odds are the fuse for the injection system is blown. The inside of the cover of most fusible link cases usually has a diagram which tells what each fuse is. The easiest thing to do is locate that fuse and remove it (with the vehicle off of course) and visually inspect to see if it's blown. If it is, simply replace it and see if that corrects your problem. While you're under the hood you might want to trace the wires back to their origin and check to be sure the harness is not rubbing or chafing against anything that might have caused wires to break and short. It's rare for those fusible links to blow without a reason.

Hook up a code reader to see if your ECM is functioning properly. Other possibilities are that your fuel relays are corroded, or a fusible link leading to the relays has blown.
