How do you remove the front crank shaft pully from a 2003 Hyundai Elantra GT? How do you get the bolt out of the crank shaft pully? Is it right or left handed threads?

it undoes normal way but its tight as its a taper end on crank and no keyway so dont hammer it off with the starter motor and a big bar locked into the suspension. You will have to use a special tool to lock the crank in position ,the other way i do it when i dont have all the tools is to slacken timing belt and then remove the camshaft ,then i undo it with the big bar and the starter motor ,to do it up without the right locking tool i jam a big screwdriver into flywheel by removing the metal plate on the bottom of the bell housing and jam it up ,the torque on this type of arrangement is something like 150 lbs which is a lot if its not tight enough the pulley can move a bit with use and bang goes a piston and valves ,got the teashirt

Replacing timeing belt on 92 nissan pathfinder 4x4 3.0

You will need a pulley puller for that one. Most parts stores sell or rent them fairly cheap.

I need to know about a cam belt change on my Isuzu is it straight forward pul out old one and replace with a new one ??

The engine is timed with holes in the drive wheels. Fitst remove the bottom pully 4 12mm screws not the big nut. Remove plastic cover's 10mm screw's. Turn the engine until the mark on the bottom shaft (crankshaft) is at the top.Their are small holes in the drive wheel's with threaded holes behind them in the engine block screw bolts through the holes to keep the drive wheels from turning Relieve the preasure on the tension pully. Remove the old belt replace tighten the tensioner again.

Timing belt installation alfa 156

remove the fan belt first them start removing the bolts holding on the timing belt cover. once its off you have remove the large pully at the bottom of the engine. Mark up the small pully on the bottom and the two at the top to get your timing, make sure they dont move. release the timing belt tentioner and remove the old belt. you kit should have a new tentioner, idle pully and belt. above all mark sure your timing marks dont move, or your in trouble when you start the car.

How to change timing belt

This is how 2.8TD.Remove the belts (fan and power steering)with a 10mm socket un-screw the plastic cover. To remove the bottom pully their is 3 small screws inside the pully (10mm or 12mm) unscrew them and take off the pully. Do not try to remove the big nut. Remove the plastic cover. Their is a small hole in all the drive wheel's their is a treaded hole in the engine block behind each one and a mark on the crank shaft. Turn the engine until the mark on the crankshaft is at the top then push the bolts ( metric course tread 12 or 13 mm head 4 to 5 ins long) through the holes in the drive wheel's and try to screw them in if they dont line up first time turn the crankshaft 1 turn and try again. When they all line up screw in the bolds this keeps the timing in place. Release the tention pully (the one with no tracks on and pushing against the back of the belt) remove the old belt replace. To tighten the tention pully put a small socket bar in the square hole turn until the belt is tight hold the preasure on the socket bar ant tighten the locking screw. Remove the screws job done.

Fan removell

The big nut is part of the fan it threads on to the water pump. To remove loosen two of the pulley bolts put a pry bar between these two bolts the use a large wrench on the big nut to thread the fan off the pump. righty tighty, lefty loosey. They also make tools for removing the fan clutch.

FOR FIXING THE CRANK SHAFT PULLY WHICH BOLT IS FIX SMALL OR BIG

The large bolt holds on the lower crankshaft pulley for timing belt, the six small bolts hold the larger pulley that drive the alternator, power steering etc. It sounds correct.

free the engine from the compressor and then remove the plug then first insert the drive belt on the smaller pulley side and after that try inserting the belt on the larger pulley side slowly by rotating the pulley slowly by stretching the belt with a rope
