SOURCE: 1997 pontiac sunfire key wont turn in ignition

You will have to have the ignition cylinder replaced in the car. The only thing that keeps that ignition from turning is a little tang on the sdie of it. The only way that tang moves is by the tumblers inside the cylinder moving it. They will have a hard time replacing it too as they can't remove the cylinder from the bore until it is in the "run" position. Obviously there are ways to get them out but it usually involves using half the tools of a good tech's toolbox. if it is towed the towtruck driver will have to use dolly wheels or remove the shifter cable at the transmission to get it to move as it will be stuck in park- unless is a standard shift.
I am sorry for the bad news. Get a second opinion from somebody that can put their hands on it , but it sounds like you have a tried all or most of the tricks.
Good luck...........Scott

SOURCE: how do i replace the key cylinder ignition on the 1991 sunbird le

This (plate) is held in place with a snap ring. You will need a special press to remove it and also a steering wheel puller to access the ignition lock cylinder. The actual switch is located on top of the steering column above the brake pedal. It is actuated with a rod from the ignition lock cylinder.

SOURCE: Key Stuck in ythe ingnition

There is a hole under the steering column right near the ignition switch, if the key gets stuck, stick a pen or something in the hole, you will feel the little lever move and you can remove the key.

SOURCE: Key won't turn in the ignition

your tumblers are probably sticking. you might want to try some fine machine or penetrating oil in the cylinder first. but chances are you will have to change the cylinder and that will cure you issues.

2005 Volvo S40 with key stuck in ignition. It turns off but key doesn't come, out of the steering wheel. Please advise needed, if lock change is required estimated cost of part and labour please.

Some ignition system locks will not release the key unless you push in towards the column while turning further off. It is a safety device to stop in advertent removal of the key while moving. Try that first.

My key won't turn in the ignition. I've tried turning the steering wheel to see if it is locked but this problem has never lasted this long. How do i get to be able to turn my key?

The first thing is to try another key and if that doesnt work then try spraying a small amount of wd40 into the key hole and work the key in the lock, but if you get it to turn then dont shut the key off completely because you may not get it to turn on again, this sounds like the ignition is worn and needs replacing. from what you said that it never took this long, the problem has gotten worse and now the ignition need replacing, it cost more to replace when the key no longer turns, this is do to the release tab on the switch, have it replaced if you can, good day.

I can't get my key to Turn at all in my S10

try to spray a little wd40 down your ignition, not much though, it may be time to replace your ignition, your key isn't catching the ignition correctly, don't be to rough with it, but give it a little extra moving around, push it in and out a few different times.

Steering wheel locked, cannot turn key to start, jiggling steering wheel not effective. turned battery on and off, inserted wd40, nothing works. help!!!

Try holding your steering wheel hard to the left as you try to turn the key. If this doesnt work try holding it to the right doing the same thing. Something happened to where the steering wheel lock engaged and that will prevent you from using the ignition key. Try this

My key In my 03 H2 is stuck it won't turn back all

Go buy some WD40 and spray it inside the ignition and while your doing that try and move the steering wheel side to side and try pulling out the key. You might want a extra person to help you let then turn the wheel while your pulling on the key but first spray WD40 in there it wont hurt it plus it lubricates the key and ignition trust me this works I have done this tons of times.
PS you can buy WD40 at any auto parts store or even at a Wal-Mart.

Key won't turn

right key? just kidding I am sure you checked. sounds like the tumblers are stiff or jammed, try squirting plenty of WD40 in there and jiggle the key in and out, ensure the steering wheel is not putting extra tension on the lock by pulling against any tension with it. Good luck

your key is probably worn down and needs replaced, but you can try spraying a penetrating oil (WD40 or PB Blaster) into the lock cylinder this sometimes works
