You need to enter what engine etc deisel there is a little hole in the cam wheel which line up to a hole in the head same on the fuel pump and behind the starter motor there is a hole which lined up with a hole in the flywheel always turn the engine clockwise from the crank and always pin and mark pulleys. If I remember the crank pulley floats for about a tooth or so. Pin the crank first make sure it don't move the pin the rest . Petrol the same for the cam and crank but I don't think the crank floats at all so u can mark it
2.2 engine crank lock on left side but you have to remove block cap, both cam lock back side or keep crank key up and both cam slot in --- --- this way

special tools needed ,one to go through the bolt hole in front of engine block right hand side ,remove bolt and then screw special bolt/locating pin in ,common rail doesnt need timiing in as its only a pump ,cam is located by aligning sensor with lug on cam .This is not a do it yourself job special tools needed to lock the crank into position after removing starter motor as well also crank pulley is on a taper and the cam .better off taking it to a dealer
classic symptoms of petrol in diesel ,but with these engines their is no keyway on the timing belt sprockets and its not unusual for the sprocket to move if a new timing belt has been fitted ,Now their is a special tool for alignment of the crank to tdc ,on the front of the engine level with the crank right hand side about 2 inches from the bell housing is a bolt ,this comes out and a special tool is inserted to locate TDC its like a long pin ,then crank is locked into this position with another special tool that locks the starter ring gear .and the cams are locked with another special tool .also its a common rail and to locate a injection fault then this vehicle uses encrypted software that can only be read by the dealer over an internet connection with renault thats well secure as it calls back the dealer to confirm caller ID then the operator has to put his finger print into the computer to open the connection.Check the fuel first and see if it smells of petrol ??
the crank is locked using a tool that screws into the front of the engine block near the flywheel end, u need 2 remove a torx bolt thats used as a blanking plug. the cams r also locked in2 place using a tool that slots in2 the ends of the camshats, the high pressure fuel pump, rubber blanking plug and the throttle motor will also need to be removed to get the tool in
