Question about 2003 Toyota RAV4

1 Answer

I have a '03 Toyota Rav4 which I've kept garaged for about 6 months or so. It's got about 120k miles on it. Just the other day I decided to take it out for a spin and it wouldn't start. So I tried jump starting it with no success. I went and bought a new battery and the car starts but seems to have electrical problems... None of the gauges goes up (no odometer, gas, etc.), the dash board doesn't light up, the stereo doesn't turn on, no power locks and windows, and I can't shift the gears out of park while the engine is running. I'm thinking that there might be a fuse thats blown but other than that I wouldn't know what... Please help.

Sounds like you blew a main fuse, you have to check under dash and hood. don't let cars sit, its the worst thing you can do.

Toyota 1994 oil engine , when the engine cold oil pressure execellent whenever it gets hot oil pressure drops rapidly

A symptom of a engine that is almost 20 years old perhaps 200k+ miles. Mine does the same thing. I don't know how accurate the dash gauge is ... but I haven't been worrying about it. I run 10w-30 year round. I've had the truck over 8 years and 120k miles ... still runs great and the oil pressure gauge works as you describe since I bought it. Unless you are sure you have serious bearing problems or whatever I'd just drive it.

Go back to toyota. If you only have 40,000 miles on the car , to the best of my knowledge, the computer is covered and they should fix it.
