Autozone cannot get the real code. the scan tool they have just does obdII. You need to use a vag com scantool, it is the only thing that will get the right codes

First of all, go to Autozone or a similar type parts store and have them hook up their hand held analyzer to your car and read a code, then they will give you a printout with the code definition. take care. by the way, the dealer charges up to 100 for that test, at Autozone, it is Free.

Check engine light on

If you go to the dealer, for a check and advice ONLY, is going to cost you $65 to $100, and you will get the code, and code explanation. Going to AutoZone you'll get the code, and code explanation print out for FREE. Keep in mind that the Dealers have very sophisticated diagnostic equipments, and can solve complicated problems. Going first to AutoZone is not going to hurt you. Hope this will help.

12,100 miles on the truck and check engine light came on. All fluids are good

the check engine light is primarily geared to emission problems. Your best bet is to go to autozone and have them scan your OBD II and decipher the codes for you. Its free. Dealer will charge you $95. Once they pull the codes they can tell you exactly what is wrong. You should still be under factory warranty and can go to the dealer for free, if not just go to autozone.

2004 Buick LaSabre engine service light is on and dealer and autozone says it is a loose gas cap but it is not loose. What do I do?

The cap might need a pressure check. Just because it stays on and tight doesn't mean it is functioning properly. It must meet EPA standards to function properly. Your cap is special part of your emission system and if it is not working properly you will need to replace it and have the light reset. If you owed a code reader it would tell you the same. Auto zone does do free code reading. The check engine light usually is not a big problem,but... I will leave it at that.

Check engine light

Nope, no check light is triggered by high RPM, unless you overrev and damage something. Go to AutoZone and have them do a code scan (a dealer will charge an hour's labor, but at AutoZone it's free). Post the codes as a reply here and we'll go from there.
