Exactly, new brake pads for sure. Next time check the brakes BEFORE they start grinding, if the grinding just started, you can probably get by without rotors this time.

Sounds like the pads are worn out and grinding on the rotors. You need to pull the front tires off and look. If they are, replace the pads and rotors.

Grinding noise from front wheel, sounds like it might be the wheel bearings

Is the car driving different than usual or have you notice uneven tire wear? If not the problem is probably not bearings.Does the noise get louder when applying the brakes then your front brake pads might be wore to metal.It might even be that a rock is caught inside the pad and just needs to be removed.

Grinding noise

your front brake pads may be metal to metal (worn out) or there is a small rock stuck in the rotor area, onluy way to know is pull the front wheels off and inspect the brake pads and the rotors

1999 grand caravan has a grinding noise coming from the front of the vehicle when braking. what could be the possible causes?

you have to get new brakes as soon as possible. depending on how long it has been doing that you may need new rotors to about 300 to 400 bucks if there al disk.
