SOURCE: howdo i romove the spare tire

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly.

Open the back door. On the RH side there is a round button type handle. Pull the handle. The nut cover for the spare tire will open. Use the tire lug wrench to loosen the nut substantially. Then push up on the frame and swing the nut and threaded lock assy out of the retaining area of the spare tire frame. Then slide the tire out for use.

Thanks again for using FixYa.

Cant get the spare tire ot release, loosend of screw, wire came down but it wont come off?

There shouldn't be anything else up there to hold it in place. It has to be stuck or wedged from being pulled up too tight for a long time. The only thing you can do is try to get a pry bar between the tire and the vehicle and pry it loose. If you are abel to get to the tire valve, try letting a little bit of air out of the tire. This might help loosen it. Good luck. If this was Any help, please vote. Thanks.

I cant get my spare tire down from my 2006 GMC Sierra. I think the mechanism might be stripped.

The spare tire support cable has an additional safety mechanism prevents the spare tire from falling onto the road should the cable break. This mechanism often gets filled up with road grit and won't release properly when you try and lower the spare. If your spare comes down a few inches then won't go any further then this is your problem. There should be some tin brackets included with your jack that are supposed to hold the spare tire up slightly off of the ground to allow some slack in the cable which usually [but not always] will allow the stuck mechanism to come loose. There is a more detailed description of this procedure in the owners manual. IF the spare won't move at all or the mechanism just won't release no matter what you do then you may have to have the entire spare support mechanism replaced.

I cant get the spare out from underneath. there

Check your Owners Manual for the location of the Spare Tire Release. Either underneath the carpet, or behind a cover: there should be a Nut shaped Spare Tire Release that you have to turn (should be counterclockwise) which turns the cable mechanism, which will lower the spare tire. Once the cable has been fully extended, pull the spare tire out from underneath the vehicle. Move the tire slightly back "up" onto the cable and turn the "cap" so you can fit the cap back through the hole in the middle of the tire.

I need to change my tyre on mitsubishi space wagon and as a typical woman cannot find how to release spare from under car help please

I'm not sure about your car, but most have a thing sticking through the rear bumper. You stick your wheel wrench in that hole, and turn it counterclock wise to unwind the cable, and release the tire. Let me know if this isn't it, and i'll do some research.

Cant get the spare to drop down

Check in the cargo area; open the rear hatch door and look for a little piece of carpet cut in a square. Lift that and there should be a nut; this nut can be turned with the lug wrench provided. As you turn it counter-clockwise, the tire should lower to the ground. If the tire does not come down, you will need to get under the car and either reach over the tire or up in the center hole to release it. Usually a good tug on the cable will get the tire to drop.

Hope this helps!

Cant get spare tire off

The metal sleeve on the end of the cable, you turn it sideways and push it thru the hole in the wheel. If it is stuck to the wheel just pick up on the wheel then tap the sleeve with a hammer.
