Question about 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue

1 Answer

My car keeps cutting off. It is a 99 oldsmobile intrugue. I had the fuel filter replaced, but it still cuts off when I drive slow or get cought in traffic. The check engine tester gave the code; P0102 maf vaf a ckt low input, which means that the mass air flow circuit has a low input. I would like to know what needs to be replaced, or what the specific name of the part that I am looking for is.

can i just go to any auto shop and get the wiring scheme and volumeter thing checked, and if it is the input voltage that is low, will I have to replace the broken wire (is there a way to fix it) or will I still have to replace the entire maf?

I have the same problem. As I come to a stop, sometimes the car will just cut off without any type of warning.

The code you have P0102 is an indication that the mass air flow sensor is not operating properly. Two choices: 1 Disconnect maf. and run car to see if it runs better, not perfect just better. If o/k replace maf. 2 Check to see if the voltages are correct on the connector from the computer. You will need wiring scheme and voltmeter. If input voltage is low,it will more than likly be a broken wire. Good luck Moe

I think you should find a repair shop that you can trust and have them check the problem. This could get very confusing if you are on your own. Ask people you know for advice on a good shop and ask for an estimate before anything is done. Moe

Have you disconnected the maf to see if it will run any better? If it does then a maf replacement is in order.

One other tip, while the car is runing tap on the maf sensor and see if the engine quits. This is a good indication that the maf is faulty. The maf sensor is located in the air intake duct after the air filter box. Moe

Car keeps shutting off while driving. We have changed fuel filter twice worked good for a couple of days and then started again. Any ideas what could be causing this?

Fuel filter is the best place to start but sometimes the fuel pump can cut out intermittently as well and it is also possible that your injectors are gummed up. Perhaps a higher grade of fuel might make a difference or fuel injector cleaner once a month when you fill your tank might help if it is an injector issue.
I am not certain how to tell if the fuel pump is intermittently cutting out other than eliminating other reasonable possibilities. I had that happen to me and like you I changed the fuel filter and ran injector cleaner through my tank and still had the problem. I dropped the tank and replaced the pump and it ran great afterward.

My 99 ford explorer cuts out and dies when accelerating in drive

You may have dirty or clogged fuel injectors, may also be problems with the ignition system. Might also check the fuel pressure to make sure the fuel pump is working correctly.

My jeep keeps cutting off could it be my fuel line

sounds like the fuel filter is clogging up. if fuel filter is clooged up, usually when car is turned off the dirt from filter settles on bottom. then when it is started the dirt is up to filter and it glogs up.

Cuts out

Sounds to me like you have to change your fuel filter. Every single item in your symptom list point directly to a clogged fuel filter. Some fuel is getting through but when you try to accelerate the motor gets starved for fuel and when you let off it will recover.
I've had this exact same problem before on a couple of occasions
and the problem turned out to be the fuel filter.

Hope this info helps you out, good luck.

Ps. Don't forget to give me a fixya rating when this works for you. I'm 99 percent sure this is your problem.
