You should NOT have to remove the power steering pump. I can give you more detailed informationi, but here's a brief rundown:

  1. Remove the necessary coolant from the radiator.
  2. Remove the alternator, as outlined in the Engine Electrical Section.
  3. Loosen the outlet hose clamp at the thermostat housing. Remove the outlet hose from the thermostat housing.
  4. Remove the thermostat housing bolts.
  5. Remove the thermostat housing from the engine block.
  6. Clean all of the surfaces of the thermostat housing.
  7. Clean the sealing surface of the engine block.
Give me an email address and I'll gladly send you more information with diagram pics.

What is ideler pully 2005 trailblazer

If you look at the engine from the front, there is a big belt called a serpentine belt. That belt connects the fan, air conditioner, power steering pump, alternator etc. There is a pulley on it the maintains the tension. The is the idler pulley. They are plastic in most cases and wear out or squeal.

My 2005 Trailblazer will not start.. It was working 4 hrs earlier except would shake when I came to a complete stop.. Now, when I try to start it, there is no power.. Also there is an egg smell coming from...

need to check for engine codes. sounds as if the exhaust cam actuator is stuck open creating an internal vacuum leak. the actuator is on the right side of the engine behind the power steering pump on a 4.2 liter engine.

210 is getting too hot, make sure you have enough fluid in radiator, and if that dont work change the thermostst to maybe a 180 degree thermostst

2005 trailblazer

check the idler/tensioner pully's and the alternator pully, there is a common problem with one of these 3 going bad, usually an idler pully the best way to check is to get a mechanics stethescope and touch the end to the bolt on the idler pully's you will notice a very distinct sound difference from a smooth pully and one with bad bearings. gm tech here, seen many of these

2005 Chevy trailblazer is leaking power steering fluid

What the seal leaks do is soften the rubber, not the best long term solution. Try taking a wrench, the correct size, and snug down all the fittings, not to tight. If it is coming from, as you described, down through the boot it could be a seal. Wipe down the unit well and watch as you have someone tune the wheel back and forth. The engine should be running to build up pressure, so be very careful not to get run over. Apply the emergency brake well and chock the tires.

Power Steering Issues

Check Power-steering Fluid level and make sure that fluid is good first. If Fluid is good and when you accelerate the vehicle its fine then, you need a POWER STEERING PUMP. Good Luck and thanks for using FIX YA
