Question about 2003 GMC Safari

Blower motor only works on HI speed

My 2003 Safari blower motor only works on HI speed. For a while all speeds worked intermittently. I have the control panel in my hands and I have an ohm meter but I don't know where to check to see if the 4-position switch is working properly. How can I check to see if the control is working? What else can I check without spending big bucks? Where can I get a wiring diagram? Russ

telephone_dr has the correct answer. Once I bought the new resistor assembly from the dealer and found the old one (under the hood hidden behind the coolant reservoir - NOT under the dashboard where the dealer told me!), this was a five-minute fix. Apparently this part fails a lot. Thanks Russ

I had the same problem with my 2002 Safari. The blower resistor/relay pack (mounted on the ductwork below the blower motor) in the engine compartment went bad- poor design. A replacement unit (about $120) is available from the dealer. Removal of the coolant overflow / WWasher bottle is required, as well as enlarging the the mounting opening. A Chilton 1985-2005 Astro/Safari manual has the diagrams...

Location of heater relay on 2003 ford focus.

There is no relay, according to my info. At the blower motor, green wire is voltage, fuse protected, goes hot with key on. Black wire is ground. The blower speed control switch is part of ground circuit. There are resistors for the lower speeds. Hi speed doesn't use a resistor. If you have good voltage and ground at blower motor and no blower action, suspect the blower motor. Any motor that uses brushes, sometimes you can tap on suspect motor, and it will run intermittently. Sign of bad brushes.
You may be able to use jumper wires to blower motor connector for voltage and ground, from the battery, just to see if blower motor will run? If it won't run, suspect blower motor. If you use jumpers, use an inline fuse, just in case.

Blower only works on high speed in 2003 focus

BLOWER MOTOR WORK ONLY ONE SPEED.YOU COULD HAVE FAULTY BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR OR BLOWER MOTOR CONTROL SWITCH BAD.USE VOLT METER CHECK VOLTAGE AT EACH CONTROL SWITCH SPEED TERMINAL. IF POWER IS AT EACH TERMINAL ON CONTROL SWITCH YOU MORE LIKELY HAVE A BAD BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR.

I only get the fan to work on high speed, the lower speeds do not work

Hi!!
The Blower Motor Resistor also called Manual Temp. Control resistor), is fried, replace. The price with floor console $25 and without floor console $65. here is a pic.

the resistor is located on the blower motor housing, fastened by two screws. It is the part where the electrical plug connects, the plug on the pic. goes to the blower motor.
A HELPFUL - 4 THUMBS rating for this solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for using FixYa.

Heat/ac blower motor works on high. intermittent on other speeds.

Check the blower resistor pack - usually located in the heater air ducting in the blower fan airflow. Check for loose connections and open circuit resistors on the unit.
If speed 4 works always, its unlikely to be the blower motor ground connection.

here is what my book says:
Blower Motor Speed Control To Remove:
  1. Remove the right lower instrument panel insulator.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the blower motor speed control.
  3. Remove the blower motor speed control mounting screws.
  4. Remove the blower motor speed control.
