This V-6 has a very hard to find/hard to reach CKP - it is directly under the Distributor, about 4 inches below, inwards toward the Transaxle "bell". Almost dead-center in the back of the engine.
Your going to have to take the Air Filter and the air manifold that runs to the engine off. After that, take off the horn assembly to gain very, very limited access to wedge an extended ratchet into the bowels of the engine.
I think the same socket that undid the horn assembly fit the CKP nut. It takes 10 minutes to undo the bolt a couple ratchet clicks at a time, at least 15 to get the thing to wiggle out, probably 15 minutes to unconnect, reconnect, and snap back to the fram the wire harness, and at least another 10 minutes to ratchet the bolt back in click by click.

Now you know why they say shops charge $500 in to do this - I think they must take the entire engine out... Very painstaking job that requires patience and precision... but quite satisfying to finish it yourself.

Good luck and hope this helps,

Ok have a bit of time, the camshaft sensor is in the distributor.

You might want to check the voltage pulse from the cam sensor. At least then that unknown will be removed as an issue.

The distributor has a 6 pin plug (and a 2 pin plug) and you would measure the voltage between the tan/yellow on pin 4 and the black/light blue on pin 6 with the ignition switch in the run position but not running.

You would put a socket wrench on the crankshaft pulley nut and turn the engine by hand and observe the voltage to pulse between 0.3 and 5.0 volts, I think once every full revolution, but in any case fairly slowly.

You can access the wires with fine pins inserted either thru the insulation or where the wire enters the plug. See if the voltage pulses are there.

Good luck and hope this helps

Im asking where is the cam shaft position sensor on my 2000 chrysler sebring jxi with the 2.5 L engine

The 2.5L engine has a distributor. There is a sensor internal to it that senses camshaft position and it does not have an external camshaft position sensor as do the 2.4 and 2.7L.

WHERE ARE THE CAMSHAFT POSITIONING SENSOR(S) ON A 07 SEBRING 2.4?

On the 2.4l there are two cam sensors. They are located on both sides, rear of the engine, just under the valve/rocker arm covers. They are bolted on with one 10mm bolt.

check code probable p0340 camshaft position sensor. I have the same problem on 2005 sebring sedan. I was told to check the circuit at the crankshaft and camshaft sensors for the proper voltage. I'm still trying to figure mine out. If you find your answer, let me know.

No fire at distributor

The 1997 Chrysler Sebring 2.5L has a distributer with an intergrated coil. All other models have a distributerless ignition ("coil packs").

Start by testing the ASD (Automatic Shut Down) relay, then the CPS (Crankshaft Position Sensor) and CMH (Camshaft Position Sensor).

The CMH test the same way likethe CPS; the ASD is located on cowl, at left rear of engine compartment.

Hope helps.

Can i replace the camshaft sensor on my sebring

the camshaft sensor is not sold separately for a 2.5 engine,it is mounted in the distributor and you would have to replace the whole distributor!

Crank sensor and camshaft sensor

The crank sensor is in the top of bell housing of the transmission towards the back of the engine compartment. The cam sensor is built into the distributor.
