SOURCE: 1937 Zephyer ( ford v-8 flathead)

1. points not opening or closing
2. Bad condenser
3 bad rotor or cap
4. Bad coil
5. Not likely but could be just a bad wire from the switch to the coil.

First you need to know if you have voltage to the coil -- if yes- go to 6.
if no -- go to 7 ..

6. Put a piece of thick paper between the points contacts, then check for voltage at the points from the coil . If there is voltage at the points ,, check the gap with the points wiper set on the high side of the lobe on the cam in the distributor . A gap of .015-.018 is most common on that engine.
7. If no voltage then back track to the ignition switch ,, fuse box , then battery

I put a plug wire in the coil output to the distributor and a plug in the other end -- lay plug on block and crank engine .. If there is spark at the plug , your in the ball game . If the spark is orange change capacitor if blue spark good to go . you might want to clean and gap your plugs before you reinstall them .

SOURCE: JUST PURCHASED A USED RAC

Red is switched 12 volts (+) off the ignition switch or other switched source.
Yellow is for the Tach's internal light, it should be hooked to the Headlight Switch dash light dimmer control.
Blue and the Black are both grounds (-), you can twist those together and ground them to the same point.
Green goes to the Negative (-) side of the ignition coil.

Can you tell me the point setting for point gap for a 1952 ford pick up f1 215 motor and also the feul pressure

My Chilton manual shows a point gap of .025 or dwell of 36 for the 6 cylinder and .015 and dwell of 28 for the V8. Sorry I don't have the fuel pressure but perhaps someone else will. Hope this helps.

1950 ford, runs cooler on pure water, should I ad rust preventor. In ms.V8 flathead. earlier tried two gallone of antifreeze and it got hot..holds 16 quarts..water pumps working, radiator pretty...

antifreeze raises the boiling temp of water from 100c to about110c,it also inhibits rust,AND if you have alloy heads it stops them from corroding next to cast steel blocks.IT IS NOT A GOOD IDEA TO RUN WITHOUT ANTI FREEZE AT ALL.....30% IS THE IDEAL MIX..(50/50 BELOW MINUS 0C)

Need diagram for '87 ford pu seraphine belt

For the 1987 Ford F150:

I do not know if you have the 4.9L In-Line 6-Cylinders, 5.0L V8, or the 5.8L V8 Engine or what Engine Options ( AC/No AC, etc.).

Click on the following free direct Link. It has several Serpentine Belt Diagrams for the 1987 Ford Pickups.

Let me know if this helped, or if you have additional information or questions. Feel Free to contact me at FixYa.com!
