SOURCE: check engien lihgt with code p1762

CEL Code P1762 is Governor Pressure Sensor Offset Improper Voltage. Make sure all your wires going to the sensor are ok, then if they are I would look into a new Sensor. Hope this gives you some direction. Thanks for Using FixYa!

Sincerely,

JC

oil pressure problem should be checked independently of other problems...Use a good accurate mechanical gauge to check. If pressure is good (no less than 15psi at idle hot (I prefer to see at least 20) check dash grounding, block ground and if OK, change sending unit. Dash and body ground can influence operation of shift and body control modules so indirectly your problem may or may not be related, depending upon what you find while testing. And it could turn out to be a defective module! They are expensive and just plugging new ones in may work, but then again, it might not. I might be totally incorrect on this...that's the value of actually being there instead of doing this by "remote control".
If you read the numerous posts pertaining to all vehicles, you will see that you are not alone with electrical problems...As long as the engineers who design this stuff, keep using "modules" to replace ordinary simple and reliable systems, we will continue to have these problems. Do some testing and I'm sure you will find a solution! (I'm still waiting for someone to make a program for a PC that will give a complete readout of every system in a vehicle, including exact faults instead of general system "suggestions")
Good luck

These conditions MUST be ruled out entirely.
Check for any of the following conditions/mechanical problems.
AIR INDUCTION SYSTEM - must be free from leaks
ENGINE VACUUM - must be at least 13 inches in neutral
ENGINE VALVE TIMING - must be within specifications
ENGINE COMPRESSION - must be within specifications
ENGINE EXHAUST SYSTEM - must be free of any restrictions or leaks
ENGINE PCV SYSTEM - must flow freely
TORQUE CONVERTER STALL SPEED - must be within specifications
POWER BRAKE BOOSTER - no internal vacuum leaks
FUEL - must be free of contamination
FUEL INJECTOR - plugged or restricted injector; control wire not connected to correct injector.

Unfortunatly, a scan tool will be required to monitor o2 sensor voltages while the engine is running in closed loop. This code you are displaying is NOT an easy solution to trace down. I expect you had an exhaust leak and is why the cats were replaced? Anyway, if so, the PCM can reset the light after a few GOOD trip readings occur that will satisfy the PCM's no fault signal, otherwise the JEEP dealer is going to be your only solution and a pressure test should be performed.

P0301 is #1 cylinder misfire detected and is most likely related to a worn spark plug that is need of replacement. All plugs should be replaced if replacing one. Not sure how many miles you have on this vehicle, or if plugs were ever installed, but this is the basic step to take in diagnosis.

99 grand cherokee 4.7, check engine light on. Pulled tranny codes, abs codes and ecu codes.

If the ecu has trouble codes for itself, it may be an internal problem, and the "idiot codes" would be a symptom of erratic ecu operation.
I would recommend that you take it to the dealer and pay the diagnostic fees to have it properly assessed. Then you will know for sure what the problem is with your jeep, and can go from there. If a new ecu is needed, check for a remanufactured unit or shop around at local salvage yards, if you don't want to pay the cost of a brand new unit.

My 2002 jeep grand cherokee laredo wull not start shutdown 2 days ago checked all fuses but the ecu fuses don't know how to find them

According with your other quesions, the DTC P1491 code is actually radiator fan control relay circuit.
Soft reset if the battery disconnect would have erased the code; the first thing I would replace for that code (fan relay).
Additionally, its possible thta your THEFT system is activated, check owners manual to disarm. Check details here:
- Grand Cherokee fuses

- Diagnostic Trouble Codes

Hope this helps.

My jeep will not start have no spark to the plugs

The ecu is what controls spark to the plugs. Various sensors tell the ecu to spark. If the crank sensor is bad or the ecu itself is bad, it will not spark. You'll have to read the trouble codes to find out what exactly is wrong within your jeep.

My jeep grand cherokee engine wont start only cranking

If you have no check engine light on the dash, before cranking, then your ecu is bad and needs to be repaired or replaced. If the check engine light is on and the jeep still won't start, might be your crank sensor is bad. Have you had the trouble codes read from the ecu? It would tell exactly what's bad.

OBD II Code P1756.

Could be a bad sensor, but it's transmission related. Anything affecting internal trans pressures should be taken care of by a reputable trans shop.

Changed battery in 1994 jeep cherokee now engine won't start. Tried resetting alarm by unlocking drivers door and hatch door. Still not starting

Do you know how to check codes on your Jeep? Sometimes the crank position sensor goes out but the Jeep will still run until there is an interruption in power to the ECU. I had a 94 Cherokee do the exact same thing. Turn your key in the following pattern: off-on-off-on-off-on. Leave it on and look at the engine light - it will blink out 2 digit codes. If I remember right code 11 is for the crank sensor...
