not too familiar with caravell however the water pump may be driven by the cambelt as many engines are today which would entail the cambelt being renewed +tensioner as well as waterpump if this is the reason for asking its location ?

there should be a label under the hood stating the Type and amount of refrigerant to us, however before charging the system, it should be pulled down to 20-30 inches of vacuum, to remove any moisture that has accumulated in the system. if it will not maintain a vacuum, you have a leak in the system and will be wasting your time and money by charging the system.

Turns out the problem was a broken wire at a junction below the carpet below the drivers seat. Took my mechanic 4.5 hours to fix it nightmare had to take seat out handbrake lever etc to get to it!!
