SOURCE: Car 'jerks' while pushing accelerator.

take it to a shop and have them run a diagnostic on it so you know for sure whats wrong whether its the trac control or the transmission

SOURCE: Check engine light intermittently flashing, car jerking.

Could be fuel or electrical related. Since you may not know the history, this may take a while.
Any amount of smoke from exhaust? White, Blue, Black?
Start with most obvious and inexpensive:
1. Fuel filer clogged (replace fuel filter).
2. Could be the ECM (Electronic Control Module). It controls the ignition spark timing.
A few other things... consider other expert solutions...

SOURCE: When I take off from a dead stop the vehicle jerks

i think this is impossible to tell you without being able to drive the car.things are more complicated then we would like. the fact that taking off slowly also causes this jerking seems to eliminate an enginge missfire which would be the first thing that would probably cause jerking. does it feel like the rear prakes are sticking on thi can be a problem with the parking brake cables rusted inside ther casing.four wheel drive problems could be a u jouint or drive shaft issue. have a mechanic at least drive it to get som feel for where the problem is.

SOURCE: car is jerking when i

you need to get a scan done at auto zone its free something else is going on parts cost extra

Posted on Jun 12, 2011

Testimonial: "thanks, even though you get a free scan i still need someone who knows what they are talking about to explain the OBDII codes."

SOURCE: Jerking at acceleration and braking! no engine lights what could it be.

Leave the car at some shop or dealer, don't use it like that

If a shop doesn't seem to find things, there usually are
several reasons why

Try another more capable shop & spend some time
there,so you both understand the time to be applied
to diagnosing, your costs & the shop has to welcome
you into the service bay & prove they have the technology,
tools & personel to work on your car problems

When the engine really got hot is there a possibility you may have over expanded some parts and now the engine is sort of tight and is not spinning fast enough to start.

When does it jerk , all speeds or under a steady load ? going up a hill ? Would you consider it a misfire ? do you know what a misfire feels like ? Do you have a check engine light on or flashing ? Does your vehicle have coil on plug ignition ?

All the above problems were happening to my truck, and the engine light never did come on. Finally changed the O2 sensor, and it runs like new again.

Prado jerking while going up hill or jerking when accelerating

Hi,
When was the last tune-up done? Should be done every 30-45KM, or depending on what your owner's manual maintenance book states.
1. Spark plugs
2. Spark plug wires
3. Fuel Filter
4. Air filter
5. Oxygen Sensor

If these have recently been replaced then do you have Check Engine Light (CEL)? If so, you'll need to get that checked by a mechanic.

Geo jerking under acceleration

They come with a 3 or 4 cyl engine, but either way it would not take much to make it run rough.
Usually a miss-fire under load is ignition related.
Have you checked or replaced the plugs, cap, rotor, and wires ?
If not I would start with an inspection of that first.
