( connected backwards)
or you blew the fuses in the engine bay.
use a volt meter to find the problem.

12.6 volts is a charged battery, rested. if lowe charge it. then test the head lights on car, if dead, fix that first. what would a tech do, he'd wip out his trusty $20 DMM and select volts and measure the voltatge at the fender fuse box (in the engine bay) he sees, 12v at the main terminal but nothing on the IGN side, and finds the huge fuse there blown. if it continues to blow , that is a system short. the fuse saves you the inconvience of a big fire.

New battery, new alternator, car will not charge, starts up great but loses power & says battery not charging, just cleaned posts?

Is your alternator actually charging? If you are not getting power into your alternator it will not put power out.

I put a brand new battery in my 98 Mercedes C280 and now I have no power at all.

No power at all? You open the door and the inside light will not come on? The new battery is not good - or not connected properly.

Did you clean off all the crud on the battery connectors?

Also - new batteries sometimes come without acid in them (make them lighter and safer to store). Where did you get this battery? Did they prep it for you (mix and add the acid)?

Easy to tell - open your hood, get a volt meter and measure the voltage on the battery - it should be slightly over 12 volts like 12.4. If not that battery is bad. Take it back to where you got it. If so then measure from the + side of the battery to some metal on the car - if that is not 12 volts you have a bad ground either at the battery or where that cable connects to the frame of the car.

1995 c180 key will turn the ignition all lights come on but car wont start

It's very likely that you need a new battery. The battery might have enough charge to power the lights but it takes a lot more power to start the car. Try jump starting the car, if that works then it's your battery- you need a new one.

No power supply with new battery? Eg. No lights showing on dash board when battery is connecred to terminals? Help plz. Will the cause be the fuses? Nissan terrano 1998

If your car has no electrical power, no headlights or lights of any kind probably has a dead car battery. A car battery supplies all electrical power to a car. If it is a new battery, you have to check the wiring connection.

I have a 1996 toyota camry, it doesnt want to start its not the battery i just put a new one in and it wants to start

If its not battery, still check the voltage of new battery. In many cases it has seen that battery charge is low, because if the new battery is just kept in stock then it will get drained automatically without any use.So check the voltage of new battery first with meter. It should show exact 12 volt. But if its less or no 12 volt then get the new battery charged.

There are some possibilities which you will have to check in this case:--

1) First of all check the power and voltage to the battery. With meter it will show exact 12 volt if the battery is charged. If the voltage is less get the battery charged at local auto repair shop. If the battery is internally drained and not getting charged then its time to replace the battery.

2) When you crank the car do you see spark coming at the spark plug? If no then its time to check the spark plugs and coil pack. If the spark plugs are not worn out and looks new then its time to check coil pack. The spark plug gets power to spark from coil pack.

3) The other thing to check in this case is the starter solenoid of the car. If the battery is charged and you start the car then it gives power to the starter to start the car. But if starter is faulty or not connected properly then car will not start.

4) The other thing to check in this case is fuel in the car. If there is fuel in the car then check the blockages in the fuel pump if the fuel pump looks proper then check the fuel filter above the fuel pump.

5) If all the above possibilities mentioned above checked out OK/perfect then it's a electrical issue and the wiring's in the car needs to be checked. The car gets power from the battery to get started. so the wires from battery needs to be checked one by one.

Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation

Cars battery was dead after jump starting the car

The cold air is not related to the battery trouble.

I order for your car to MAKE electricity, there must be some power in the battery. If your battery is dead, when you jump it, you can run the starter motor but if you dont put electricity back into the battery, the alternator will not make power. And ... you have the blower on consuming any power that might be remaining in the poor battery.

You might need a new battery and you might need a new alternator in your 15 year old Park Avenue.
