How long does a clutch last

hi, i take it your vehicle is a manual or stick shift, to check your clutch you use 4th gear and with the engine running drop the clutch to see if it either stalls out the engine or slips. if your clutch cable is broken you will need to repair that first. with engine off engage first gear and attempt to start it, make sure there are no children or animals close to the vehicle, if the clutch is ok with your pedal pushed down the car will start, otherwise it will crawl at a very slow speed, needing repair.

My 1999 nissan dash board is change by our insurance murcury co. and replaced w/ old one without our othority. it was running aircondition without any problem. please advice how to deal w/ insurance co....

In your policy it will state that the ins. co. has the option to put used parts on your car once it has passed 12,000 miles and or 12 months of age. But if they have replaced the dash with a used one there should be some type of number and or letters written on the inside of the dash, by hand. This tells the salavage yard if it is theirs or not, if it is returned to them. Also very carefully look up under the dash without touching anything if possible, "with a bright light" see if you can see any dust that has been touched with a hand. Maybe a clen spot that is next to an area that has dust on it.

I have been told that my 1989 Delta 88's struts are completely shot, and could cause serious problems, including ''chewing up my tires'' I drive about 4000 miles of low speed local driving, mostly by...

If the struts are shot as you say then they need to be changed. Continued driving will only worsen them. This will result in increasing problems controlling the cars movements especially when going over bumps. The car will start to wander all over the road and it will become increasingly difficult to maintain a straight line while driving. At some point they will probably break without warning. Worn shocks will greatly shorten the life of ball joints and tie rod ends, not to mention tires.
In the event that you are involved in an accident that causes serious injury or death, your car will be inspected by somebody and the problem will come to light. At that point you will likely become the responsible party and be held liable for all damages.
Cars need routine maintenance to stay roadworthy and struts wear out. They need to be repaired on a regular basis. Suit yourself but ignoring or putting off the repair will only cost you more money down the road. At this point in time you have control over what that cost will be, down the road you may not have that option. Hope this helps.

1993 Plymouth Voyager will not crank

Remove the Distributor cap and watch the rotor as you crank the engine. If the motor is turning over and the rotor is not moving then you have a broken Timing belt. If this is the case the Belt broken while the engine was running. I can tell you from experience, I owned one of these and mine did the same thing, Every valve in the head is bent. The good news it is not hard to replace on your own and it can be done without removing the engine. The bad news you have to remove your head and have it serviced by a shop.

I was in an accident Friday where a pickup ran a stop sign and crashed into my driver's side. Both doors, windows and center support were buckled/broken. My question is, if insurance wants to repair the...

hi, dont worry to much the work they will do will be just as strong if not stronger than it was before the accident they will use all new panels and the weld will be of a higher quality then the original machine weld so dont worry to much.

It can keep your car on the road and the safety will not be compromised just make sure you check the work for signs of buckling in the piller and also check the doors line up when shut but other than that you should have no problems.

the people who repairs these do it day in day out and it is all tested to a high standard else they would not be in business, their work should come with some warranty so dont worry to much you will be ok

05 Malibu Classic won't start. Seems to be starving for gas. Have good charging system. I was on road traveling and car just stopped running.

Replace fuel pump, may be in the gas tank. Some cars have gas shut off in case of accident, this may have tripped, not sure where it is located on your car.

2003 Cavalier, fuel problem after accident

there is no fuel pump cut off switch on this car, it is possible the fuel pump module was damaged from this accident, u will have to have the fuel pump circuit tested for faults before replacing the pump, don't guess, this is an expensive repair

1993 Land Rover stops running on when on rough roads,

I had the same problem with my 1993 range rover. It turned out to be the ignition switch. after thousands of times inserting the key, over the years this process slowly pushes the back side of the switch away from the ignition switch housing. This consists of a plastic disk which holds the mechanical stop that keeps the ignition in the run position. If the disk is not secure and tight against the ignition housing the hold mechanism will not work properly. Mine would start and run however the first time i hit a bump the ignition switch would turn its self to the acc. position and the vehicle would stop running. I found the solution on He was very clever in his way of a permanent repair. He opened up the steering column and used tie wraps to hold the plastic disk secure against the end of the ignition switch. Thus no more automatic ignition turn offs.
