03 Nissan Altima showing codes P0304,P0102,P0154,P0113 what are they and how do i repair the problems.

Hi Chris.

p0304 = Number 4 Cylinder Misfire Detected

Faulty spark plug 4
Clogged or faulty fuel injector 4
Faulty ignition coil 4
Fuel injector 4 harness is open or shorted
Fuel injector 4 circuit poor electrical connection
Ignition coil 4 harness is open or shorted
Ignition coil 4 circuit poor electrical connection
Insufficient cylinder 4 compression
Incorrect fuel pressure
Intake air leak

The P0304 code means that the cylinder 4 is misfiring or is randomly misfiring. Start by checking for intake leaks an if no leaks are found the next step is to replace the spark plugs on cylinder 4.

p0102 = Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Low Input

Faulty mass air flow sensor
Intake air leaks
Dirty mass air flow sensor
Dirty mass air filter
Mass air flow sensor harness is open or shorted
Mass air flow sensor circuit poor electrical connection

Before replacing the mass air flow sensor, try replacing the air filter and cleaning the air flow sensor with low compress air or mass air flow sensor cleaner.
Reset code and drive vehicle.
If the code comes back, it may be necessary to replaced the mass air flow sensor.

p0154 = O2 Sensor Circuit No Activity Detected Sensor 1 Bank 2

Faulty Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 2
Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 2 harness is open or shorted
Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 2 circuit poor electrical connection
Inappropriate fuel pressure
Faulty fuel injectors
Intake air leaks may be faulty
Exhaust gas leaks

Replacing the Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 2 usually takes care of the problem.

p0113 = Intake Air Temperature Sensor Circuit High

Faulty Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor
Dirty air filter
Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor harness is open or shorted
Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor circuit poor electrical connection

The Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor is built into mass air flow sensor or in some vehicles mounted to the air filter duct housing. The sensor detects intake air temperature and transmits a signal to the Engine Control Module (ECM).The temperature sensing unit uses a thermistor which is sensitive to the change in temperature. Electrical resistance of the thermistor decreases in response to the temperature rise. The Intake Air Temperature signal is used as an input for various systems in the vehicle.

Hope this helps

I just changed my coil for the first time on my x30 rover for the first time, and I cannot get any air through it... I have to suck really hard and not much coming out

Sorry Sara but to me this does not make sense. A coil is an electrical part producing the high tension flow of electricity and does not have air going through it at all. If you can describe where your coil is and what it does or should do, that may help a little.

How or what grounds the coil on my 1984 ford e350

The normal route for electricity to flow through a coil is:
Battery to coil.
Coil to points
Points connect and disconnect coil, causing spark.

1999 silverado

it is probably a bad coil pack/ spark plug. if they are ok! make sure the fuel filter is good and not restricting fuel flow. check fuel flow from pump. Good-Day!

What does the capacitor do on a 2000 mazda 626

The capacitor is used in an ignition system to charge up in the rest period and suddenly discharge in the firing cycle. The reverse flow of current through the coil causes a rapid decay of the electrical field in the coil and produces the big spark. If the condenser is faulty the coil field takes too long to decay so you get a weak orange spark that has trouble jumping the points

No engine on coil

Thank you for using Fixya

Try to replace the high tension wires since electricity from the battery flows to the coil to crank the engine. The coil takes that spark from the battery and sends a much larger spark to your plugs, and the engine roars.

All the best!

My cirgerette lighter in my 1988 cutlass ciera oldmobile doesnt work i was looking to fix it myself but i dont know what is wrong with it...what are some things i can do to try and fix it??

The lighter has a resistance coil similar to electric room heaters. There is a coil of wire which gets red hot when current is made to flow through it. First ensure that current is available in the lighter receptacle by a line tester or a simple bulb tester. If the bulb lights up, means either the push button for the assembly are not getting the leads contact point which could be deposition of salts and cleaning it should suffice. The other thing that that is critical is the coil itself. If the coil is not continuous, i.e. has a break, then replace the coil ..........................sodeep

Cr anks won't start when wet out

The ignition coil wis defective, possible crack in the coil case. When it is wet, the coil case becomes wet, and the electricity shorts (arcs) to the coil frame. Hence, no electricity will flow into the distributor, or plugs, etc... When it is dry, it is harder for it to short to ground, so the cracked coil will work (somewhat). To check for this, try the following when it won't start. Lift your engine cover off and locate the coil. Make sure the wire (coil to the distributor) is firmly connected at both ends. Turn the key and watch the coil. If you see blue-white electrical arcing, you have a bad coil.
