The Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor is located in the coolant passage of the cylinder head. The ECT sensor is a variable resistor whose resistance changes as the temperature of the engine coolant flowing past the sensor changes. When coolant temperature is low, sensor resistance is high; when coolant temperature is high, sensor resistance is low. The Engine Control Module (ECM) checks ECT sensor voltage and uses the information to adjust fuel injector pulse width and ignition timing. When the temperature sensed is very cold, the ECM enriches the fuel mixture and advances ignition timing. As coolant temperature rises, the ECM reduces the amount of enrichment and timing advance. ad5a8e2.jpg P0115 is set when the ECM doesn't see this resistance (usually an open circuit) which usually means the sensor is burned out when there's nothing wrong with wiring and connections between the sensor & the ECM.

P1159 - Variable Intake Motor Malfunction

P1191/P1193 Limp Home Valve - Low RPM

First, clean the throttle body and check for anything which might obstruct AIR FLOW to it.

The P1159 is the Variable Intake Motor Malfunction. this motor is either 'OPEN'... or 'CLOSED' position. It is located on/in the intake manifold (plenum) and is only opened when cruising... it is closed at idle. If it sticks 'OPEN' is can cause drivability issues.

the trouble code p0115 is referring to an engine coolant temp sensor malfunction. The sensor may be located on the thermostat housing, or behind the exhaust manifold im not quite sure. It should have a 2 wire connector.

1995 millenia fault codes PO400 and PO 115what has to be done to fix these.


The P0400 has to do with a fault in the EGR (Exhaust Gas recirculation) system. The possible cause is leak or blockage, wiring, EGR Valve or EGR solenoid or the ECM.
P0115 has to do with the ECT (Engine coolant sensor) possible causes for this fault is wiring or the Engine coolant sensor itself or the ECM.
I believe I have the testing for both of these if you need them. Send me your email and I will send you the test procedures if you are familiar with how to use Ohm meter and a vacuum tester.

P0715 Input/Turbine Speed Sensor Circuit (transmission related)
P0115 Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit (fuel/air mixture related)
P1191 is a manufacturer-specific code related to fuel/air mixtures, as is P1193 - those will have to come from Hyundai.
