After overheating and blowing out safety plug in the radiator and losing all my coolant before recognising that the engine was getting hot I am unable to restart it, It turns over and tries to start but...

if your vehicle was being driven, even for a short time without coolant then the engine is probably damaged beyond repair. You should firstly find out why it overheated, was the water and oil level ok before this happened?

Lose engine power at random times

What model Toyota? Later model cars have their engines controlled by an ECU which can cut out the engine when it senses problems such as low oil level, overheating etc. When ti ECU sense a problem it could cut the engine power to half )or less) of its full normal power to allow the vehicle to be driven at slow speed to the nearest service center.

Over heating engine, can drive for 1 mile without damage?

Any engine, when cold, takes at least 3 miles before reaching operating temperature.. After reaching operating temp it still takes a mile or 8(depending on your vehicle) before "over" temperatures are reached. Therefore if needed, a vehicle can be driven several miles without any coolant/water at all before overheating and causing damage, if started from from cold.

Can i drive my acura legend without my thermostat

You can drive the vehicle without the thermostat but in cooler weather you will have problems. The computer wants to see 195 degrees or more to allow the engine to run at peak performance. Without a thermostat you will be running cooler and the computer will overfuel the engine because it thinks it is cold. You could have some trans shifting and torque converter clutch problems also.

My car jerks before it cuts off because it keeps overheating. Already changed the thermostat and checked the radiator cap.

with the engine cold, remove radiator cap.fill w/antifreeze so you can see it.start engine warm up look for movement or flow of normal temp,no flow--water pump bad. if you see bubbles it's a head gasket, quite likely if it was driven while overheated.

I assume you are talking about a Northstar. Could be a lot of things. Start with the coolant level. Another easy step is to check the coolant pump belt. It is located at the top of the motor (driver's side front). It is under a belt guard next to the valve cover. You can see and feel the belt under the cover without removing anything. The belt is only about 1/4" wide and is driven by a pulley off the overhead cam. You can see the tension pulley as well. My problem was a broken belt and an easy fix.
