I stop the at the robot and the car did not want to go into first gear (Manual). After a few min of battling pushing clutch pedal it finally went in and I could drive again. What would the cause be?


It could be you are having a master cylinder or slave cylinder problem or maybe the syncro on the 1st gear got jammed for a few minutes. If it was a one time thing, I wouldn't worry about it. If it starts happening more often then you may be looking at a whole new clutch assembly. Honestly a good driver can make a clutch last a minimum of 150,000 miles assuming all mechanicals are good. If you've raced the car, did burnouts, dumped the clutch a lot, and or just generally drove the car hard, then you're about due for a whole new assembly and probably a tranny fluid change too, if you've never done that.

If you can't do these services yourself, I'd say get it to a trusted mechanic. You'll probably be looking at about $1000 - $1500 for the repair.

2001 VW golf 1.9 A/C clutch wont engage, I have no 11 volt ref to t14/3 pin on fan control module need to know hoe to test WOT and basic throttle setting.


Over time the clutch does go bad or burnout so get the system checked for flow and pressure to ensure the compressor is working ffirstly then the check valve for blockage or if the system needs to be recharged...if all this checks out then you may need to have it rebuilt or replaced...oh and the seals too can cause a similar problem if they are stretched.

common issue is the compressor clutch is bad. check the electric fan on the radiator with the key off. try to turn the blade by hand and make sure it turns. If not replace the fan.

To answer the first problem you need to check it for codes. To do this you need to jump TE1 and E1 terminals in the diagnositic plug then turn the key on. The check engine light will flash trouble codes. Let me know what codes you get and ill tell you what they mean. As for the second problem. Are you sure the clutch is good. Because you are describing a bad clutch.

My car wont move when in gear. i can go into 1,2,3,4 gear without using my clutch. cant go into 5th or reverse. now my clutch wont reject back. my friend did a burnout on my car before this happened


Can you pull the pedal back by hand? It's hard to tell what damage has been done without looking at the problem(s), but either the clutch hydraulic system has somehow locked in the 'release' position, or the clutch itself has disintegrated. Best not to let 'friends' abuse your car. Suggest taking the car to a respected service shop and prepare for a fairly large bill.

You can pick up the bulbs pretty cheap, but make sure you have a lot of time to replace all of the bulbs. You have to almost remove the dash to install all of them. (you can easily do this in one afternoon if you have never done it before)

The easiest way to bleed out a clutch hyd system is to connect a hose from the closest front brake caliper bleeder to the bleeder on the slave cylinder. Crack both bleeders open and pump the BRAKE pedal very slowly. It might be best to have someone pump the pedal for you.You will feel the pedal get harder once all the air is pushed out of the clutch system. Close off bleeders and remove hose and test drive car.

This is a back bleed and it's the only way to get all the air out of the clutch system on Peugeots and some other Euro cars.
