doing relic old school test , on new cars buy unhooking the battery cables , invites blowing to hell all electronics and lights that are on,. there is never a reason to do this, unless fixing a 60ford. sorry. RTM it states that in all FSM and every ASE class made. and guess what newer Alternator internal regulators see that bad ACT and shut down, fast, so there you go, As they say, this in NOT your fathers Oldmobile.

I have a 98 z24 cavalier auto with the 2.4 I can get it to start then I stalls out a couple seconds later I have done the passlock bypass the guy I got it from took the battery out a it was running great...

Unhook your battery again for about 15 minutes. After you re hook it up, let car sit with the key in the on position, but not running. Let it sit for about 5 minutes, and then turn key off, and start it. It may run rough for a few minutes as the sensors and systems are all resetting. If you try running it right away, or cold, it can confuse the regen process

2001 new beetle battery drain wont start

Alternator!!! Boost the car, if starts let it run for a few min. Once the car has stayed running for a couple of min, unhook the negative terminal on the battery, if it stays running, the battery is junk. If it dies, the alternator is junk. But this is just my past experience, and it worked.

Never know.

Car battery keeps dying

Myguess is that you have an electrical short which is causing a drain on the battery. The way to check this is to get a 12 v test light. Unhook the negative side of the battery. Hook the test light up between the negative battery post and the battery cable. If the light comes on, You have a short/drain. To find where the short is, you leave the test light hooked up. Then you start pulling fuses until the light goes out. However, your car stereo needs to be completely unhooked before you do this test because most stereos have a constant electrical source so that the clock stays accurate and the memory stays active so your programed stations don't get lost. Door dinger stays on after the car is shut off we have to unhook the battery everytime we get out of the car any solutions on why and how to fix it.

It sounds like the door switch needs replacing. They are dealer only products but cant imaging it would be costly. In the mean time try to duct or gorilla tape to keep it from killing your battery & having to unhook battery every time you want to go somewhere. Good Luck & I hope this helps you out/

My car won't stay running when I unhook the

Most alternators are not designed for that much current load. That was a practice that was used several years ago as a test.. but its really ******* alternators and wiring. Leave the battery connected and use a voltmeter to check while the car is running. Set the volt meter on 20 volts or so on the DC setting. Put positive to positive on the battery and neg to neg.. You should see 13.5 volts or above if your alternator is working properly.. Hope this helps..

simple test after you start it.. unhook the battery. if it keeps running it is the battery.... if the motor dies it's the alternator
