Question about 1995 Ford Escort

1995 ford escort a/c works great, but car overheats while a/c on

No problem with the a/c working, some sort of relay is not telling the fan to kick on when the a/c is running so the car overheats. I cannot locate the relay or module that is defective. I think it is the Condenser Fan Relay but I'm not sure. I cannot locate this relay on the car. Can anyone help??

The fan is working just fine when the a/c is off. The car does not overheat, it is only overheating when the a/c is turned on. It seems the relay may be bad if it is not signaling the fan to turn on while the a/c is on. Any additional ideas?

The thing to do is to look in your main fuse box under the hood and check to see if the fuse for that is blown. Another solution is to direct wire the fan from the fan itself to the battery, that will help you to determine if its a relay or if your fan motor has gone bad.If its works when hooked direct you can run a wire to theinside of the car and attch it to a toggle switch.

The a/c stopped working, it overheats, and it wont start. what is the problem?

Sounds like more than one problem. Not starting is usually caused by a lack of spark or fuel to the engine. Over heating can be caused by low coolant/defective thermostat/rad fan not working ( to name a few ). Ac not working can be the result of low freon/compressor problem/relay/fuse/wiring ( to name a few ).

How do I fix my engine that gradually overheats in traffic or in idle?

If it only overheats when stopped and stays cool or normal when driving that I would suspect that the radiator fan is not working. Check the obvious like fuses and relays. The relay can be swapped with another identical relay in the fuse block. If those check out than you will need some more advanced diagnostic equipment and info. If you up to the challenge I can provide you with some more in depth info to help you solve.

My fan is not working on my 1989 ford escort iv put a new fan on and a new radiator fan switch but still not coming on

There should be a relay--probably in the engine compartment relay box or along the firewall. Try swapping the fan relay with a similar relay, such as the horn relay and see if the fan will come on. You can also check the wiring from the relay socket. Please see my tip at . If you get stuck, please get back to me.

The cooling fan on my 2001 ford escort SE will not work normally

Check the coolant temperature with the car stopped. At idle with the hood up keep the thermometer in the coolant. Confirm if the coolant is not overheating but the engine is!!

Run the A/C keeping the thermometer in the coolant and allow the fan to kick on.

If with the A/C on the engine doesn't overheat then it confirms that the low speed on the fan motor is not working. Read the description of the Taurus where the low speed is used for normal operation when temperature is required but the high speed is activated when the A/C is on. The circuit is simple.

In your case the low speed has to be activated for the A/C to go into the high speed. The fact that the high speed is working and low speed is not indicates the low speed of the fan is defective.

Other problems such as the thermostat or plugged cooling system(radiator clogged) could be the root problem!

Hope this helps?

Overheats with air running at 105 degree outside temperature,

Check your service record and see when was your last time you did a coolant change.

It's a good preventive measurement to change the thermostat too just in case you has a stick / partial opening thermostat.

With the A/C running, monitor the electrical fan(s) and see are then BOTH on.

The second fan should be on under load and A/C ON.

If the 2nd fan is not kicking in the make sure the fan does work by apply 12V to the terminal and also check the A/C switch.

95 ford escort fan works normal but not with a/c

The A/C compressor is not kicking in. It could just be low on freon or the compressor could be bad.

1991 Ford Escort fan will not turn on and motor overheats.

some water from the tail pipe is normal but if the car is running bad then it is possible the head gasket is blown. on the escorts that i have owned i have found that the main relay is usually burned and needs to be replaced. it is possible that the fan is dragging and burning this relay up if this relay is good then you may be better off taking it to the electrical shop.
